Sakaguchi detailed one interesting side of the Blue Dragon battle system: how the enemies relate to one another. Some enemies are in good relation, while others don' t get along so well. If you force two rival monsters into battle with you, you' ll see some strange effects. One monster might chose to heal your party, for instance. Sakaguchi also hinted at more depth to the battle system overall, besides the job-like system that recently came to light. Typical of an RPG, players can learn new bits and pieces of information in town. In Blue Dragon, you can make use of that information for moving through the fields of play. Sakaguchi would not go into specifics, but it seems that there will be some form of gameplay element even before you enter battle. At the time of the interview, development on Blue Dragon was at the 90% mark. And that remaining 10% is going to require a lot of work, it seems. As an example of some of the detail going into the game, Sakaguchi said that, typical of an RPG, players can read books that they find on shelves. Blue Dragon has 100 such readable books, so he had to make 100 tiny stories.
