Jun Natsukawa?, hmm I dunno if I could go out with a Jap/asian girl, like they are cute and all but something about them that western girls have. Maybe ours are more bitchy.

The same ' new' excuse, i could say the same about most games:

I' d rather go to a shooting range than play time crisis..

I thought I mentioned that I disliked the Wiifit as I didn' t really count it as being a games machine, rather something sold on TV-Shop, by Chuck Norris. Depending on how they make use of the machine they might make an actually " fun" game that uses the board, but until then I' m NOT interested.

Square Enix said they were very intrigued by it so I guess they might incorporate it in some game. Maybe something in an RPG?

Anyway...

Japan' s tastes are totally different than our own (western), and I think we all recognize this. To say that they are, somehow, wrong is preposterous. Certainly I wouldn' t agree with 95% of their opinions on video games (or food, or music, etc.) but it' s just different. I usually like to hear about the things that they like, as it' s kind of interesting to see the differences.

They might be skinny, but at least they aren' t fat.

They make consoles wich works, and every once in a while the japaneese companies dare to take a chance on inovative games, with new things wich hasn' t been seen before. :)

Sure they have a different culture, and probably different taste in games.
But without them, there would be absolutely no innovation in the industry.

Only problem is, the japanese market treats quirky games like erotica. They lap the stuff up. There' s no inherent risk in releasing something really really weird to the market over there. Taking a chance would be spending millions of dollars on anything without a cartoony sidekick, cheery soundtrack or effeminate male lead.

Come on now. This is the country where you can buy lingere from vending machines.

WiiFit are probably abit innovative, even tough we' ve seen the basics before. Nintendogs are more like Tamagotchi on console, however Tamagotchi were japaneese aswell. :-/
But I were thinking more on products like Katamari Damacy, Locoroco, Eye of Judgement, wich probably never had any chance to get funded by any western companies, I believe.
Western publishers seems to go for more safe bets, and never take any chances, while japaneese publishers and companies seems more loose with their wallet, and also seems to take more chances when it comes to funding strange new stuff, wich not necesarilly is a shooter.. :-/
