Hands down, what' s your favorite videogame series? - Mar 04, 2003 01:56
Oh, it' s so hard for me to choose. But if I had to choose one, there' s nothing that gets my blood boiling like a good ol' game of King of Fighters. It easily has some of my fav characters in videogmes ever. And I love the storylines. But poor SNK. Too bad thou couldn' t stay a float longer. It was a mighty toss up between KOF or Panzer Dragoon, but my love for PD mainly comes from my love from Panzer Dragoon Saga while my love for KOF comes multiple points in the series. I' m still hoping to pick up 2000/2001 for my Dreamcast. And would buy 2002 if it wouldn' t cost a few hundred bucks. . . .

Very difficult question in my opinion.

So many good games that had sequels down the line that disappointed me.

Define series? Does there have to more than one sequel in order to call it a series?

Certainly in my younger gaming years the best series (and still an excellent one today) would be the Sonic games. I loved 2 and 3 the most, but they all rocked. The newer " Adventure" games were great, but not as good as the original 2d versions.

I loved Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica on DC, but the others in the series have been disappointing IMO (yes, including the first one on PSX and Gamecube)

Zelda: Links Awakining (SP?) and Ocarina of Time were excellent, but they are the only games I have played in the Zelda series. Don' t know about the others, but cant wait for The Wind Waker.

Ultimately I always think series of games get too similar to one another, therefore, disappointing me at some point. Perhaps the first 2 are great but the next one is not different enough to refresh me. I can' t answer this question if I am totally honest. At least not from what I can think of just now.

I would have to say Sonic, although the recent Adventure games have been underwhelming.

Shenmue has proved a nice consistent series, but only two games and I don' t really like games where you have to have extended sittings.

I quite enjoy the Virtual On games, but still haven' t played Force. But they can get boring after a while.

I quite enjoy Mario now, but was a bit anti-Nintendo back in my youth, so I haven' t played many of the games - something I intend to fix.

But so far, I still think Sonic is the best so far.

It' s absolutely impossible for me to choose one series or franchise...Anything Mario or Zelda warrants a purchase in my book. Ive loved both franchises since I was a toddler. Sonic was also a big hit in my early days. Doom was one of my first video games ever, I loved it, and still do. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighters and Final Fantasy deserve to be mentionned as well. So all around, there are tons of series and franchises Ive come to love throughout the years.

Id also like to say I think Halo will become one of the most popular video game franchises of the new millenium real quick. The original is already among the best products ever developed, now it' s up to Bungie to deliver something even better. I can' t wait to see what happens with Halo 2!

My most recent favoriot is Shenmue, there is just something about this game that amazes me every time I pop it in my video game system.

Then the Sonic games, I love sonic as you could tell me all my previous signatures, oh and you can tell I love shenmue from my current sig.

Without doubt my favourite game of all time is Thunderforce 4 on the Megadrive. This pushed the system harder than any other title and perfected the genre. Truly a massive moment in my gaming history.

And alos a big-up for Baldur' s Gate.
I don' t think I ever spent more time with a gameseries then with BG.
BG2 is just the best game ever and I think I now spent over 250 hours with it.

Phantasy Star Online, no doubt in my mind. The first time I played on ther DC it was like visiting Disney Land for the first time, pure magic. The online community, the soundtrack, the atmosphere, everything oozes quality. Best series eva!
