Some hacker broke into Valve founder Gabe Newell' s computer and was able to steal a third of Half-Life 2' s code!

Valve claims they wont be able to take advantage of the code. Perhaps causing a delay was part of the hackers agenda? Either way I find it hard to imagine that no backup exists.

Conspiracy theories out of the way, a hacker might have just been trying to score anything pre-launch and/or bolster his own reputation?

Actually, I heard the part of the code they stole could be used by a hacker to hack into your online account and get your credit card information, even download viruses to your computer. If such is true, this code theft could potentially be a huge problem if left unchecked. It' s a shame that people like this exists out there. Too focused on their own shameful gain that they can' t realize the harm they' re doing to others. Maybe the code is nothing, maybe th delay is nothing, but I know the people at Valve probably aren' t sleeping too well at night.

I think Valve is totaly lame for not having a secure enough system. The hacker, (no I wont give you his name), was after the game but has also thought the bragging rights to be great. He visits a hacking forum that I frequent andis a close personal friend. He probably wont be caught though, he is really good at what he does.

its probably you and I guess good job to whoever did it and ask microsoft for a job i heard the hacker released a playable version of what they got but didnt see it on kazaa dunno where to get it

There is a website that has the game ready to DL. I can' t remember where though. It doesn' t matter, I' m waiting for the xbox version.
