i was just reading an article about game developers and hollywood producers getting together at a conference to discuss about how to turn games into nice movies.

after watching movies (if you can called them that) like alone in the dark or house of the dead, i wonder: how can someone screw so badly something that was great?

do you have any favourite game movies ?

I think the first Mortal Kombat movie was the best. thumping soundtrack, lots of fighting, and they didn' t worry too much about a story. Not enough gore, and Goro died a bit easily but otherwise it was alright. Not that there' s much out there to compare it to!

Yeah, Mortal Kombat is the best one so far. I don' t think the fighting is good but the characters are fun with " good" actors and the overall style is really cool. They really captured the atmosphere from the games, something most other movies did not.

on the other hand Street fighter movie was the complete oposite of MK...story and actors sucked.

I don' t think the Resident Evil movies where bad. Quite entertaining. Mila does a god job.

Yeah Resident Evil´s movies were nice but i enjoy more the first than the second.
I am anxious to see how things end in RE3.

Yeah mk is my favourite like everyone said it captured what it was about. I kinda like angelina jolie as laura croft tomb raider it was as if laura stepped out of the game and into reality but I didn' t feel like the story and scenery was parallel enough to the game.

the resident evil movies director said that you should use characters and icons from the game into a movie but never the same story...

...but it was because of the great story present in the games that people go see the movies right? so why change?

i guess movie makers nowadays are dumber than ever

Yeah, the first mk was good, but it had it' s issues.
(why was a japanese mythological figure cast as a white guy?? That still bugs me.)
Still, a good mindless action flick that captured the series well.


I was really impressed with Silent Hill. I especially appreciate the fact that they made a movie with the pacing and the atmosphere of the Silent Hill games, instead of turning the game creators' artistic world into the setting for a generic action movie....ala Alone in The Dark.

I never got round to seeing Silent Hill, although it dooklook nice and atmospheric. I' ve never played the games, but I' ll check it out when it comes out on DVD.
