I suppose what caught my attention were the realistically modeled characters. Almost in a Tao Feng sort of way, Genuine Games created quite a stir with their title at the convention this year. They are hoping to achieve a realistic, brutal look for each character but with some added twists and turns.
With other games your character might look a little roughed up but always managed to wipe himself clean before the next round. In Fight Club, if your character receives a black eye, cut lip, or bruised ribs, they’ll stay like that for awhile.
Going even further, Fight Club will have a hardcore mode for online players. This is where you get the chance to take your created character online and dish out some damage. The great thing about hardcore mode is that you need to be extremely careful how you play. Since you can break arms, limbs, and possibly even necks, you’re character can be rendered useless. Thankfully there is the option of tapping out and keeping your fighting somewhat healthy.
In the event of shattered ribs or broken limbs, you’ll need to spend points to go to the hospital and get yourself patched up. It still remains to be seen just how good online play will be, but the added feature of actually being able to lose your character makes every fight a white-knuckle moment.
