I got fallout 3 there a week or so ago. Played the first ten minutes and turned it off as soon as its your 10th birthday, everyone in the room, much like oblivion, started talking to me at once. I hate that shit. I can clearly hear at least 3 audio conversations going on when i am walking around, and it does that wierd zoom into the face thing too.. it has a real lack of emotion just like oblivion.. I'll play more since i bought and its so early but damn what wasted potential...

The beginning sucks. The whole game isn't like that. Fallout 3 is probably my favorite game of '08. I bought it when it launched I'm still playing it. I almost never play games that long.

I quit after I got up to the supermarket type place outside Megaton. My problem was that I couldn't easily find any missions at Megaton. I said no to the barkeeper when he wanted me to work for him in exchange for info on my dad - cos I was feeling tight. Didn't get much info from his computer terminal. Then when I went back to him, the game would no longer give me any option to change my mind. Seemed a bit strange since he never found out that I hacked his terminal or anything. I said no to the guy asking me to try to blow up the place, cos thats just rude. And even though I want to help the sheriff disarm the bomb, I have no bomb disarming skillz - and I need to do more missions to advance. Without any other missions, you see my dilemma. Failing to find anything else to keep me at Megaton I ventured out. Killed a few bandits at the nearby supermarket - picked up whatever basic items and shit guns there were there. Tried to venture further out with my new protectotron or whatever that robot from Lost in Space was - which quickly got detroyed along with me, as soon as I met a bunch of supermutants. Trying to get to the galaxy radio station by stealth and my puny guns didn't favour well either. Allong with the fact my machine was chugging along at a poor frame rate outdoors - I decided to put it on the shelf until I get my new rig in a few months. All in all, so far I agree with Silent. All the mundane aspects of Oblivion as well as the good stuff have been copied over to Fallout, and so far has shown nothing more. Not a fan of VATS either - would have liked to have either had the choice to play this purely like an FPS (like STALKER), or be forced to use VATS and have it actually be a challenge/interesting (rather than just aim for the head to blow it off easier). Course I'm looking forward to playing it on my new rig - and finding some way to advance. My friend can't get enough of it and everyone else likes it, so I want to see what Im missing. Any tips?

Any tips? Cheats There's a map reveal all that would help immensely if you find the pace to be too slow or you're lost. But this takes away from the hunt. I guarantee there's no way to find everything without it though. If you're getting your ass kicked too much you can also give yourself some XP to level up a bit. I found that levels before 10 were hard but levels after 10 become too easy the higher you go. Part of this was resources, counting bullets isn't cool, however later in the game you have so much shit you're constantly dumping inventory just to make room. http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallout3/hints.aspx?tag=tabs;cheats Some of these can be real fun, like the jump cheat for example.

I would, but I'm of the mindset that if you need cheats to make the game enjoyable/playable then there's something wrong with the game design! Like Perfect Dark 0 with its flashing arrows telling you where to go or Mirror's Edge with its conspicuously colourful scenery or EA allowing you to buy progression/cars with real money in NFS. Although I dont mind slow gameplay or exploration, as long as it doesn't feel like a chore. I'll probably play through once at least without cheats, and then see what might be fun to mess around with after. So thanks for the link.

If you hack the computer at the bar you get the coords for what you need to know! go to the supply station, the annoying lady inside will give you some quests, one of the means going to the supermarket you were in. It can be tough getting to the radio station, but just hang in there, you will get there eventually.

Yeah I got the coordinates from the bar computer, but I need some serious levelling up before I could ever hope to get there. I'll try to find this supply station.

Fallout kicks ass. Missions are everywhere. I say start on a easy level setting. Let your character ramp up a bit then when it feels easy start throwing on more and more difficulty. Its a game to play how you want in every sence. Want some help weapon wise? Go out and find the crashed ufo. Your pip boy will pickup its frequency...hmm dman shame I cant remember how I found it or where...I just drifted into the wild one day...I remember I was wearing that birthday hat I stole off that kid I escorted from that kid place to the adult village...yeah there is some random shit in that game.

You want to find the "Alien Crash landing". The gun is nearby along with some ammunition. Ammunition is also scattered throughout the game. However it's very scarce, don't waste this weapon on any pansy. Only pull this baby out when you're facing one mean mother fucker.
