Fable-How can you go wrong with this! - Apr 01, 2004 00:53
A game that allows this much freedom

sure some of us will vear away form such acts on there heroic quest, but then you' ll have those others out there going " If i line up my bow and put enough strength into it i bet i can take off 3 kids heads with one arrow!" (which btw is possible)

the wait continues

Neways heres a hands-on preview of the game from teamxbox.com:

Actually Fable got a lot of heat for that stabbing the kid through the head pic. I mean a whole lotta heat. I heard they' ve taken that out of the game, killing kids. Sucks that it takes away the realism but I can see why people would get angry. I' m not %100 sure that they took it out but I' ve heard things.

How can you go wrong? Very easily. This is an unbelievably ambitous project, and even the slightest flaw could ruin the game entirely. This level of ambition and vision is admirable and impressive, but SO much has to go right that it may be too much for the current video game world capabilities. I' m not sure people really understand what is necessary for this game to function properly; on the level it absolutely NEEDS to function at, in order for it to be merely playable, let alone revolutionary. There have been a lot of revolutionary IDEAS over the years, but only the special few implement the idea correctly. Hell, Road Trip had a revolutionary idea behind it, but it failed miserably.

We' ll see what we we' ll see when I can see some actual gameplay, and when they can actually provide solid and measurable evidence regarding the overall flow and style of the game. All I see so far is preliminary information that has changed a bit over the years...

Teamxbox play tested it and really enjoyed it. So far from what I' ve seen as far as in game videos, the game is looking very impressive. Even if it isn' t the huge revolutionary game that it' s being claimed to be, it still looks damn fun. I have high hopes for the game, as do many. I' d hate to see it fail.

Being a major RPG fan, I hate to see ANY RPG fail, and that would include Fable. I, like so many others, want it to be everything it desires to be, and more. I' m just worried that that idea is too ambitous. You can trip over your own feet if you try to run too fast...

Either this, or some of the hype I' ve heard isn' t 100% accurate, and the development team did indeed keep it within normal levels of their capability. Then it will undoubtedly be a fantastic game.

I wish I could say I was 100% sure this game is going to turn out great, but after the debacle that was Black and White (crushingly disappointing) I' m literally going to reserve judgement till I play it.

The funny thing with Black and White was it got a ton of great reviews, almost unanimously so.

A year down the road, and nearly every magazine and online portal is picking away at its faults as though it were the biggest disappointment ever.

Fable looks good, it sounds good and the concept is brilliant. Unfortunately, they said the same of Black and White.

It seems the jury' s still out on Fable then. Does look very tempting though. A friend of mine swears by it after a recent visit to Peter Molyneux' s studio.

You can trip over your own feet? lol...apparently I don' t know all that much about this game. But maybe thats a good thing, it seems so many people have been waiting for this game for too long. I' ll be waiting on some reviews myself.

I can only imagine how manly and heroic it' s going to look when you' re level 39 warrior can' t walk in a straight line because he has two left feet and one crossed eye.

All I can say is that it had better live up to all the hype. From what I' ve seen so far this could go from either being a completely immersive experience to being a sort of fantasy GTA clone. Much of what I' m seeing touted about this game (specifically the freedom) has been done before - just look at Morrowind. On the other hand, it very well could have the sort of versimilitude to it that made Shenmue such a fine game (in my opinion, at least), and if they can pull that off, I' ll definately be there.

Well, I liked Black and White and it was considered a really ambitious at the time. I' m not too worried about the actual gameplay...that' s going to be good I think. The biggest worry of mine are glitches...something like what Morrowind had but on a much bigger level. Hopefully since the game does support Live, or at least it did, if something really bad is found then it can be patched.

Too bad it wasn' t developed by a Japanese studio. Then the import version would have probably remained uncensored!
