Egg Monster Hero Update (NDS) New details unvied for the Half-Baked Heroes offshoot for the Nintendo DS. By Jin Sakimoto | Sept. 19, 2004 Square has updated their website with a new official Half-Baked Heroes website, where a few new details have been revealed on the series offshoot, Egg Monster Hero, their first game for the Nintendo DS and the first in the series to be confirmed to make its way to North America at this time. The game will use the dual screens of the NDS to show different vantage points of the same event, particularly the series infamous theater antics, where they show an example of once screen showing the audience reaction, while the top screen shows the actual play at the theater. In one of the game' s two battle systems, the top screen will show the enemy forces and the ally army in full 2D detail and the bottom a radar of the forces, where the player can drag his forces to touch the other and battle in what is called a scratch battle. The second battle system is called the touch battle. Here, you summon one egg monster in particular to fight, here on the touch screen, you' ll see nine squares. Depending on which square you tap, you can choose different attacks based on that part of the monster' s body to be displayed in the upper screen. The comical gag series will see the story this time follow the adventures of the king of the kingdom taken on a journey of training by his minister. He' ll use a variety of odd monsters in his journey, including Oijuice, a decrepit potato, Planet Kid, an angry planet with a volcano on top of its head, Egg Man, a super hero in the style of Ultra Man or the Power Ranger, only ... an egg, and Death, a forgetful zombie policeman. This is par for the course for the incredibly silly Half-Baked Heroes series of SRPGs which has run ever since the Famicom versions, and may continue a history in which fans send in designs for completely crazy monsters to be used in the final game. No release date for the North American or Japanese version has been set yet, but its been confirmed to show at the Tokyo Game Show.
