EA and Xbox Live - Apr 07, 2004 06:01
For the longest time many have wanted EA games to be Xbox Live compatible. Now there is a rumor about the reason why XSN (xbox sports network) has pulled some of its games out of 2005. The rumor is that EA Sports may have come to an agreement to put there games on Xbox Live.

Many xbox users chose XSN sports titles over EA' s Madden simply because of Xbox Live use. Now with the possibility that EA may be moving in on the Live sports turf, XNA will have to rethink some of the flaws found in there sports titles to compete with Madden.

If these rumors are true, maybe this could mean the rest of EA will also make Xbox live compatible games. I remember long ago that Battlefield:1942 was gonna be on Xbox.

However, this makes me wonder. The main reason EA didnt agree to go with Xbox Live is because they wouldnt get much money out of the deal. So could this mean in order to get EA to go with Live, Microsoft might up thenice lovable low price???

But remember this is all a rumor

You never know. If EA does do games for Live hopefully you' ll be able to play them cross-console against PS2 games from EA. That' d be nice.

I hope the rumor is true! EA has such great titles out (medal of honor, battlefield 1942, need for speed) If EA would do live stuff it would be the best!

I' m not a very big EA fan. MOH(the first one) and BF1942 are the only two titles that I' ve really enjoyed from them. I really don' t care if they come to Xbox Live. It' ll probably help sales but there aren' t many titles I' d want from them.

I' d also like to mention MS stance on delaying XSN is due to the fact they have been unhappy with their first party sorts titles. They hope to start work on the next generation of sports titles to make the highest quality they can. This tends to lean itself more towards of a rumor about Xbox 2 coming out in 2005. I' d personally prefer 2006, but that' s not really up to me . It think XNA and XSN are going to make one hell of a Xbox 2 kick off.

Microsoft had better start working as soon as possible, because their NBA, NHL, and especially their NFL franchises are garbage compared to Sega' s and EA' s titles.

As to EA coming to Live, well that' s been rumored for quite awhile now. It' s a possibility that we will see a Madden game on Live, but who knows considering their relationship with Microsoft about Live. Games like Battlefield might not be so good to bring to Live though. BF 1942 is a great game, but it is meant to be played in huge servers. As of right now I' m of the opinion that Live is not capable of having more than 30 players in a server, if that. Imagine playing BF 1942 in a 20 man server, with scaled down maps...I think I' ll stick with the PC version.

MS knows their sports titles suck and that' s why they are holding off on them and XSN this year.

Maybe. I just want to say something about PS2 vs. XBOX players playing online is impossible. I think the distinction needs to be made between " online" and LIVE. LIVE is it' s own network and cannot connect to the internet, just the LIVE network.
