i like reading the reviews to get a feel for things. That being said, you cant trust reviews and some are poorly written.

I read the reviews for informational purposes only - I' ll buy or rent a game regardless of the reviews if it peaks my interest.

I read website reviews to obtain general information, such as whether the game had issues which might be of concern to a gamer (like myself). My preference is to read gamer-reviews, such as those found at Gamespot, to determine whether those agmers can add or detract from the website' s review. Ultimately, I take multiple (no less than three) website' s reviews and gamer-reviews into account prior to purchasing any title. I do not rent, as this seems pointless for a gamer that plays about once a week (I have 2 full-time jobs). I research heavily, then buy only when satisfied and conficent that a title is worth my $$. If I can, I request a demo at the game store, but this seems to have been discontinued at most establishments.
