Comparing Xbox Racing Games...

...Graphically: I' ve recently been digging up old media files on the net, of Project Gotham 2, TOCA 2, and also Forza. I must say that i think Gotham 2 still is the king of the hill in the graphics department, beating even Forza. I have yet to see a screenshot or movie which (in my opinion), can match the photorealisticness of PGR2, especially of the cars. The only dep' t which i think Forza has the edge over PGR2 is in the trees dep' t. TOCA 2, IMHO, may have all the same graphical effects, etc. of PGR2, and of course, the edge in framerate too. But i guess the artists over at bizarre creations (before they were kidnapped and made to do forced labor on Forza) had a better eye for photorealisticness than the TOCA guys.

I really have to agree with you. Gotham is King in graphics, and in refresh rate, but the game seemed to be lacking depth. Dint get me wrong I love the game. Its the best on Xbox. But in all fairness the best racing game by 42 1/2 miles is GT4. Gran Turismo is dynamite as soon as you play it. Although it is great in my opinion it dosent hold a candle to gotham 2 graphically. Damn if only we could play both together.

TOCA 2 is a horrible, horrible game. It would have been much better if they had remembered to program the controls. I got up to an oval track and my cars spin out even when I DON' T touch the control. Control on the ovals is impossible. I fail to see why this site rated the game so high. It is awful. AVOID! Otherwise it all boils down to Rallisport 2 and Out Run 2. RS2 has the best graphics ever and a solid 60fps (50fps on those weird-ass PAL TVs). It is great fun and you can install your own soundtrack of porn music to race to. Out Run 2 is great looking fun, but the music is repetitive and the new tunes are mediocre.

Based only on what I have experienced with PGR2, I just enjoy the daylights out of this race game for what it does offer. I do agree that PGR2' s game-depth may appear to be somewhat less than other titles, but the gamer needs to put themselves into the game and experience what the developers really intended...for the gamer to have a solid challenge, while enjoying their gameplay time. PGR2 accomplishes these goals quite easily. GT4 also does this...just in its own way. I know, or care, very little about the Forza title. My all-time favorite XBOX race game is Rallisport Challenge 2. Now, there' s some awesome graphics, gameplay, and game-depth!!!

Wheras I do agree with most of the posts here, I have to say that ToCA 2 really does have something going for it - perhaps the more realistic driving. It' s not physics as we know it, I know, but it manages to keep an element of sim about it that makes it a great game to play, especially online. RS2 has great graphics and gameplay, as does PGR2, but they are completely different games. Yes, both racing, but RS2 is a rally sim and PGR2 is an arcade racer. Joe, you need to learn how to drive in ToCA - the oval tracks are easy, if you know how to handle a car...

If they are so easy perhaps you can explain why my cars spin out on the higher-level oval tracks whether I touch the controls or not.

first off. RSC2 is the best looking racing game to date. Then there are PGR2 and Forza.PGR2 is actually more realistic then GT4.But it doesnt come close to forza(if u played the demo u will know what im taking about). GT4 is the worst and crappiest game ive played in my life its worse then Crusin' the world series. As for Forza if u played the Demo u will see how good the game looks and playes, and if u have 5.1 surround sound then try driving the ferrari 360 with the in car view it will blow u away,+ the car damage and actually getting the car off the ground is amazing, i almost flipped the ferrari 360 i got the car on its side.
