1UP: I heard through the grapevine during TGS that Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi doesn' t think that Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword is a real action game because it' s on a handheld.

TI: I heard about that yesterday, and I also heard the name Kobayashi for the first time yesterday too. When something I have personally put a lot of effort into and am really happy about, and something that my staff has been working on so hard for years...when someone comes in and insults that I' m not real happy about it. I don' t know what his reasoning was specifically for saying that, but I sure hope he realizes he' s going to make Team NINJA his enemy for the next 10 years by saying something like that.

1UP: Before, when the games were on separate systems, kids used to love to try and pit Devil May Cry versus Ninja Gaiden, arguing which was better. Now that they' re technically going to both be on the same platform, what would you say to someone riding the fence trying to decide between buying Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2?

TI: I have no intent to insult believers of Devil May Cry. The problem is that the producer of DMC4 insulted Ninja Gaiden DS. I mean if he has so much confidence that Dragon Sword is not an action game, then I' d love for him to show me Devil May Cry 4, if he' s that confident. And I' d love to see if he could beat Ninja Gaiden 2.

If at this juncture i had to choose between Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4, i' d go with Ninja Gaiden 2.

It' ll be interesting because both have never been massive sellers and yet this generation i expect both to perform amazingly. In a generation where more and more games are garnering in excess of 1 million pre-orers on 360, this should be fun to watch.



Reading the rest of the interview, i' m not so sure Dragon Sword only being 4hrs long is a great idea. I understand his reasoning but i expected more.

It is kind of low to make statements like that though. I mean, attacking a handheld version just because their is direct competition on consoles isn' t really relevant.

Even if Ninja Gaiden DS was a puzzle-plattformer it' d be still awesome.

Anyway I also can' t understand why that Capcom dude has to try and insult Itagaki' s game. The only person in the video game business who can insult the competition and get away with it is, after all, Itagaki himself.

IF u havent yet played an NG game then how do u think dmc > NG . I personally prefer dmc . NG is too tough for me . I got through the original but not before slamming the controller a few hundred times out of frustration . DMC is much more accessible and fun . NG is challenging .

Well you two, if you get Ninja Gaiden Black and die often in the first level (So don' t stop after you die for the first time against the first enemy) you can actually unlock a new difficulty level that involves turning in a gay ninja. I believe that way even you could enjoy the game.

I don' t care for either game, really. But what turned me off most about Devil May Cry was the gawdawful music. I don' t remember which one in the series had the worst music, but I don' t think it' s ever been good. NG music is OK at best. It had better music on the NES.

Graphics are better in Ninja Gaiden, but the camera seems worse in that game as well. Ninja Gaiden doesn' t have character reflections on the floor where other objects do. This has always been a flaw of Team Ninja.
