Looks like sony might win this one anyway

If the Blu-ray gets ultra successful and crushes HD-DVD, can Sony make the Blu-ray discs cheaper? Because if so, then hopefully PS3 games will get cheaper and we can all be happy! Happy! Happy!

what was blockbuster doing before this ? were they putting hd dvd and bluray both on shelves?

Neither. This is going to be a huge slam to HD-DVD. Blockbuster is huge, and unless multiple other rental chains (Hollywood Video and... um... Hollywood Video) really push HD-DVD, we' re looking at fair weather for Blu-Ray.

The question is this. Is this move going to boost the rental & sales of Blu-Ray disks because they' re supported at Blockbuster or is it going to be more of a mental thing. I.E. Folks see Blockbuster supporting Blu-Ray, They can' t rent movies from blockbuster with an HD-DVD player, so they go Blu-Ray.

Things to consider.

Blu-Ray discs will get cheaper. PS3 games will NOT get cheaper. Look at Xbox360 games. It uses DVD technology which was invented in Benjamin Franklin' s time. And they still charge $60 per game. And morons like you guys pay it! Since I am not a moron, I STEAL my games.

This has no effect on me unfortunately. My area cant keep a blockbuster in business due to HollyWood Videos and Movie Galleries, our closest Blockbuster is an hour drive away. We were supposed to be getting one in one of the towns in our county, but the town is nothing but a bunch of druggies now and all business is leaving the town, including Walmart, and if Walmart leaves then you know there is something wrong.

What I find funny is that Blockbuster Online will still have HD-DVD which seems really silly because a lot more people are switching to the online movie rental stuff. I want to see if Netflix is going to take a side and if so I believe whoever they pick will get a huge push.
