Aspects of videogames you no longer love

Or you don’t understand. Or you just find stupid. Whatever… Just what really bugs the hell outta you about videogames nowadays? Particularly something that didn’t bug you before but bugs the hell outta you now. Personally, the more I play videogames, the more I’m starting to care about the actual *design* of the world I’m playing in. But I’m not talking about level design (although level design is a big factor in game quality). I’m talking about how people would actually live in this world. Why does this world works the way it does? Why are the buildings built in such a fashion? How “realistic†are these levels (realistic meaning would anyone sane actually design a house in such a way). Now, this isn’t *that* big of a problem. . . until I get to platform games. I used to be all about some Mario 64 (and various other platform games) where it didn’t really matter how this world functioned. But after I realized how well a “world†could be incorporated into a game after playing Halo, I started to look for the same in other videogames. And no matter how much I loved platformers, every time I look at them it’s like, “What?!? Why in the hell would a world be designed in such a way? Who would make such idiotic buildings and passage ways??†Thankfully I can still appreciate the quality of a good platform game, but I can’t seem to be able to get back into them at all. Who knows, maybe a good Sonic game will come my way once again and I’ll forget I ever had a problem with platformers (I’m an easy sell out fo’ some Sonic) Well, never said my problem with videogames wasn’t a wee bit illogical, but hey, I’m illogical. Your turn.

The worst part about going to a 3D environment was making the virtual camera work WELL. There are some games that use it great and others that it just pisses me off to no end.

I used to love the idea that you couldnt in general save in games. It seperated the hardcore from the casual as youd have to play the whole thing in one sitting! Now though, I hate that idea, probably due to my hetic life style! Or maybe its because games are alot longer

I just feel the simplicity of enjoyment is being lost. Games today are far more complex than they need to be.

what pisses me off in videogames most? Well, that has to be the ingame loading times. I think it really detracts from the atmosphere......oh, something i also hate is.....tekken......

Poor quality games as a whole. Wht release put money and effort into something that is going to fail anyways. These types of games get hyped up before release too just so that people get a copy before reviews are released. It gets annoying.
