Are You Ready For Next-Gen?
-
Jun 17, 2005 06:12
After reading pre-/reviews, and viewing pics and vids of the anticipated releases, I have come to the conclusion that I am not really ready for next-gen (in my case, XBOX 360). There are just too many games that are expected out for the XBOX (in my case) that I am interested in for me to worry about going to next-gen. The titles on the top of my list are: Sid Meier' s Pirates Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Serious Sam II Conker: Live and Reloaded There are more, but I do not have the time to list them all... I will welcome the XBOX 360 into my home, but I haven' t stopped being loyal to my XBOX. What about you? Are you ready, or are you happy with current-gen?

Most definitely! My XBOX will remain in its regular spot with the XBOX 360 snuggled close. Gotta have both!

I' m very ready. Those games you listed don' t really interest me other than Conker and even that I' m not sure about. The 360 does have games coming out but the big hitters are reserved for the 360.

well the ps2 has had its 5-year life cycle, and now its hit it max with grahpicaly stunning games like god of war and tekken 5. I' d say its time to go next gen for ps but not xbox because it only has been around 3 years? and its full potentail hasnt been shown.

We' ve already witnessed much of the Xbox' s potential and that potential equals graphically stunning games that can only run at a steady 30 fps, Not 60.. So with that I say NEXT!!

yah, I agree, Xbox games now are all 30fps. Time to go next-gen and swim in them 60fps games again just like old days! hehe. (unless Bizarre creations somehow magically manages to come up with another 30fps racing game in favor of ' graphics' later on in the 360' s life, like they did with Gotham 2 on the Xbox. Shame on them if even on the 360 they still choose graphics over framerate!)

Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2 for the Xbox both run at an unfaltering 60fps. And they even do it in progressive scan and widescreen modes. Not only that, but the game draws almost completely to the edges of the screen (most games on all systems have giant black borders around them that you don' t see due to overscan).

Is next gen ready for next gen? Because so far, all I' ve seen from next gen is a bunch of rehash. [:' (]

well thats typical for a next gen console to get rehashs of older games in the early years lotusson, Newer more ' orginal' games will be made that really show the power of the consoles after ther intail realse, so you cant really compare consoles till then.

I think the last big hurrah for the Xbox is gonna be TOCA Race Driver 2. Woohoo! It looks to lead the latest crop of Xbox racers.

TOCA Race Driver 2 has been out for at least a year and a half now, and it is shite. the first hour or two are pretty good, but then they forgot to finish the controls on the rest of the game.

I' ve been ready for the next gen for about a month now. I still play Halo 2 when I have time, but I' m not really looking forward to many games. Although I still haven' t played the " new" splinter cell. Shame on me. I might just get it for PC though, because i' m gonna get a shader 3.0 graphics card.

Personally I lost interest in the current-gen games around 2-3 years ago. Then Resident Evil 4 brought me out of gamer hibernation. Now I' m just waiting until late 2006/2007 until momentum picks up for the next-gen and developers start tapping into all that potential. I don' t see the need to rush out and buy X360 this Xmas, although I do have the TV and Internet connection for it if that' s what you mean

There aren' t enough hours in the day for the current three, let alone the next gen! I still play my Xbox all the time, and the PS2 got mad love for God of War recently (the first game I actually finished since Halo 1). I just finished unlocking EVERYTHING for DOA 2 Ultimate! The only system I was kinda disappointed in was Gamecube. I mean, Metroid Prime was great, but I only got about 60% complete before I just got tired of it. And it' s SOOO hard to get back into. Alas, I will partake of the delectable fruit that is next gen! I' m REALLY interested in the two Hironobu Sakaguchi offerings for the 360. I can' t wait, really!!
