A question for the editorial director... - Jan 04, 2004 01:14
I noticed on the Sonic Heroes article you typed recently, and it says, " It would be easy to go at this on the ' Sonic' s back, hurrah' tip, but instead we have to face the possibility that [Sonic Heroes] might be the last major Sonic game from Sega - and therefore be grateful it' s a good one."

... Last major Sonic title? What do you mean? Are you saying there will be no more major Sonic titles like SA or SA2? You can' t be serious! If it' s that thing with Sammy, well that can' t stop Sonic Team from making anymore Sonic game, will it? It' s sad, and it worries us Sonic fans that Sonic Heroes, the Sonic game that was used as an expirement to test out the " three-characters-at-once" gameplay, is going to be the LAST MAJOR SONIC TITLE!

To be honest, I find that hard believe. Just because Sammy is taking shares away from SEGA just so SEGA could concentrate a little more on making arcade machines, it doesn' t mean there will be NO MORE Sonic titles. What made you think they were going that far?

But what did you exactly mean when you said, " We have to face the possibility that [Sonic Heroes] might be the last major Sonic game from Sega...?" I' m just curious is all.

That it could be just that.... the last Sonic game released under Sega as we know them. It doesn' t look like Sammy wants to get rid of Sega' s game development division, but it looks like Sammy wants Sega to focus all of their attention to arcade games. That of course means no more Sonic as Sonic isn' t an aracade game (although his face would still probably show up on panchiko(sp?) machines). At the moment we can all only hope this turns out good for Sega and for gamers.

I was referring to Sammy. I consider msyelf optimistic especially when it comes to everyone' s beloved Sega, but it doesn' t look good.

Feb 17 = my birthday!
Feb 17 = Kikizo' s birthday!
Feb 17 = CSK/Sega shareholder meeting, the day Sammy basically takes over and possibly the end of Sega as we know it.

There have been doomsday prospects for Sega before now and it has always somehow survived, but this timethey really will need a miracle if we want to keep seeing games like Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, VF4 etc. Even in the arcades, Sammy will most likely make Sega focus on a relatively useless but very lucrative hardware platform.

The darkest hour. =' ' ' (
