Microsoft Pre-TGS Conference (including HUGE announcement!!!) - Sep 20, 2006 17:13
Ok, first the boring stuff...

● JAPAN: A new 360 core pack for 29,800 yen is announced - comes with N3 and PGR3.

● JAPAN: A new 360 premium pack with Blue Dragon is announced. Same price as above.

● JAPAN: Xbox Live Vision camera release w/ a month of XBL Gold and a free copy of Uno for 4200yen.

● WORLD: Wireless headset. November 2, 6,300yen.

● JAPAN: The harddrive and remote will be hitting stores for 9,500 and 3,000yen respectively.

● JAPAN: The elusive HD-DVD add-on is fully revealed. Connects with USB and yup, supports full 1080p. It integrates seamlessly with the XB360 dashboard to boot. It' ll retail for a price of 20,790 ($177), including tax. Releases November 22nd... but No word on US pricing and release.

● WORLD: Thanks to the release of the Xbox Live Vision camera -officially-, the games that support it are being updated. Bankshot Billiards 2, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades, and Hardwood Backgammon will join Uno as XBLA titles that support it.

● WORLD: Don' t know if this is new, but some titles confirmed for XBLA are Defender, Fatal Fury Special, Contra and Gyruss.

● WORLD: XBLA is updating with many new titles including Yie Ar Kung Fu, along with Rush' n Attack, Ms. Pac-Man, and New Rally X. However, Yie Ar Kung Fu is exclusive to Japan.

● WORLD: In early 2007, Microsoft will hold a Pac-Man championship in New York for some top prize... presumably 360 related.

● WORLD: Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 is due out November 15th in America, and November 22nd in Japan. In Japan, it' s going to retail for the absurd price of 9,240 yen ($79).

And now for the HUGE announcement...

How the heck will ms be able to output 1080p...they really are giving people less reasons to look elsewhere...but really how?...anyway have seen the Lost odyssey and blu-dragon pics props to them they look great.

Also a while after the 360 launched there were rumours of their being a surprise a year or so after launch plus some chip inside that no one knows what it did...I wonder if this was it if so would that mean it had the know so all along?.

If the game is natively 1080p capable then it' ll display it natively. If not then it' ll up-res it from 720p to 1080p.

Wait for the DirecTV announcements and the bigger HDD. 360 will be TiVo-ified!

Ahhh ok but I had this long lecture from someone saying how since my 360 doesn' t support 1080p i' m not future proof so when sony comes out with their 1080p games everyone' s gonna flock so I feel kinda relieved by that, even though there won' t be much 1080p games i' m sure. I was looking at lost odyssey last week and thought it looked too good or very good for a 720p game.

So ' ' true hd' ' eh...

1080p?

How?

VGA?

Component input in most TV' s doesn' t support it.

I think it' s another great info like the one on fifa and pro evolution soccer.Just to confuse people.

Since 360 doesn' t have HDMI out it' s going to be done through VGA and component. However, if your TV doesn' t support 1080p via component (which very few do - even though the cable supports the signal) then it' ll be limited to 1080i or 720p.

VGA will work fine though and all good HDTV' s have VGA inputs then as long as your TV is 1080p capable you' ll be able to play in 1080p.

It' s not a massive deal, just like PS3' s 1080p isn' t a massive deal, but it' s interesting and important for some people and it certainly gives 360 fanboys ANOTHER weapon against the Sony Defence Force!

Well I' m disappointed to be honest - this is just confusing to people.I doubt 1080p over component quality. It' s just to have 1080p in their specs I guess. And it proves that they don' t feel good about Sony' s HDMI.

I' m pretty sure they will make 360 with HDMI at some point.

1080p?
Didn' t some of you guys say that it' s not necessary to have a resolution that high? That you were happy with 720p or whatever it was.
This seems more like an attack at Sony instead of a serious quality ensurance from Microsoft.

Majik,DVI??

Yes. With a VGA-DVI adapter you' ll be able to connect to a DVI port on your TV, -- but since VGA supports 1080p too ther' d be little point.

Oh, and Quez...

I already said that,i really don' t care for 1080p in games, since i think that it will take a lot of cpu power, however i can' t compensate the diffrence but you know as well as i that reso (pixels) taks the most cpu power when playing on a PC.

Also,1080p in movies is perfect ffs.
why would i not be hapåpy over being able to play 1080p movies?

Very good news indeed!!
So basically someone needs a HDtv that can ' ' show' ' 1080p via component (and ofcourse an Xbox 360).
The problem that occured to me is this. Since HDTVs support 1080p via HDMI will at the same time support 1080p via component? Or only a small number will be able to do so??

Right now only a small percentage of all 1080p HDTV' s suport the signal via component. However, you could just buy the VGA cable and use that instead.

So if my TV supports 1080p and i use the VGA cable, it will be able to " show" 1080p? So there won' t actually be a need for an HDTV that supports 1080p via component as long as the tv itself has a vga input?? (Plz say so Magik!!!!)
