Trackmania United! :D - Nov 13, 2006 01:27
Anyone love Trackmania here? I think it' s one of the most purely fun games I' ve played. French company Nadeo' s next installment is coming out next week, downloadable off their website.

It' s like a mixture of multiplayer Micro Machines, F-Zero and that really old game called Stunts or Hard Driving was it? - where you can be really creative making your own outrageoous stunt tracks, paint your cars and share/race them online with about 20 players.

It also seems wierd to me that a fun-focused game like this would have some of the best graphics! But it scales to lower end machines really well too.

They usually release a limited version of the game free, but they haven' t this time round, since the demos had so much content, a lot of people were happy with that! You can always get the old demos for TM-Sunrise and TM-Nations via your preferred dl spots though if you haven' t already. The idea is much the same.

Looks like fun, as long as it is free [in one way or another..], I am going to give this one a try...

Motorstorm > Trackmania

Could be...but I haven' t played Motorstorm, and you can' t make your own tracks on that either!

But yea, there' s no demo for TM-United yet. But consider the combination of these previous demos...

http://www.gamershell.com/download_11401.shtml - TM Sunrise Extreme

...one big demo for United (hence the term!). Like I said the idea' s the same, it' s just all put together into one big game for this one, with a few tweaks to the online system etc.

Each player has their own myspace like page with all the content they' ve created up for grabs, for in-game currency earned through completing races, sharing content etc.

But these old demos dont allow you to save any content until you buy the game, only play about with the editors. Like I said though, a lot of people were just happy racing other peoples content and never bought the game, which is why their strategy is different this time...

I' m preloading the retail version myself.
