BiA " 15-20% More High-Def than Gears" ... - Dec 29, 2007 04:09

Not exactly what you' d expect from a company that cut its teeth on WWII tactical shooters. " Steven Spielberg told me he really thought the Brothers in Arms series had beautiful graphics," Pitchford says. The upcoming Brothers in Arms: Hell' s Highway is more accessible than previous its titles and better looking. " If I had to guess, it' s 15-20 percent more high def than Gears of War," he says. Don' t expect a Portal type add-on game bundled with Hell' s Highway, but the concept of that added content is appealing to Gearbox. " It' s added value," Pitchford says. " Like at the beginning of Pixar movies. They have those little shorts, which give them an opportunity to experiment and try out different things. I don' t know if we' ll have time to do something like that before Brother in Arms: Hell' s Highway ships, but definitely before the generation is over."

...Randy, Randy Randy...

I like Brothers in Arms. A lot. But.... Whaaaaa?!

Now, now, no need to pick on people that are obviously blind... or mentally challenged, whichever you prefer

Brothers in Arms is on-par with the 360 version of Gears from a graphical standpoint, if nothing else. It looks gorgeous in motion, and you' d have a hard time finding me footage of a near-current build that doesn' t look stunning.

On that note, Randy Pitchford has proven time and time again that he is incompetent in large crowds, at demonstrations, and in interviews. He isn' t in a position to be the go-to guy for information on the status of any of their games. Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, or Samba.

The game looks nicer than Gears as a whole... it certainly has far more scope and depth. It won' t match Gears texture resolution which is probably the games strongest graphical aspect...

It definitely has a far better lighting model and more " realistic" look to it. It' s the game that shows that UE3.0 is a versitile as Epic promised and it' ll take a lot of effort from another licensee to craft something as nice using the same engine.

The demonstrations they showed of the 360 version showed a pretty complete looking (graphically) build but with a suspect framerate. Hopefully they' ll smooth it out (seeing as the previous games weren' t optimized well) and are able to maintain the visual fidelity.

I wonder whether they' re doing online co-op?

I find the BIA graphics " better" ,obviously that doesnt mean the textures might be crispier or cleaner, but it looks like the most realistic UE 3.0 game so far.

Love the countryside, the grass, and the worn out old german houses at the country side looks absolutley fantastic with UE 3.0 and I never suspected it.

The word you were looking for is crisper. He' s laughing because crispier is relevant to food, and he is fat.
