This has been mentioned in several other threads, but I figured why not start one exclusively devoted to it.

Ok right now i don' t think we should pick any but lets make some general predictions or who you think will be the top 5.

Crysis has potential (from what ive played).. Orange is a mighty package. Bioshock is way over-rated, not seen enough of mass Effect (and unlike what ive seen of MG, there' s parts that look not upto scratch)..

So My game of the year will probably be between, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3.

Both AAA quiality (yeah Mario' s ot out yet but it' s obvious it' s going to be a killer), Both feature totally unique ideas, controls and set New standards in both genre. Both Totally Exclusive.

I' m hoping Crisis Core will be worthy of the GOTY title.

call of duty 4.. or maybe something like Halo3/Bioshock with mountains of hypes.

COD4... Looks like it' ll be awesome but will it really be fresh enough to be a GOTY or is it simply the same old games we' ve seen in the series but in a new setting with some tweaks?

Well first of all there is no such thing as a single GOTY. Every publication does their own thing. A game may win a GOTY award, but so would many other games given from other publications. I could make my own awards if i wanted to. The awards only have as much significance as the people giving them out. No one is worthy enough to have absalute authority on these matters.

So to answer your question, it depends on who' s GOTY you' re interested in.

Portal

MP3? Not a chance. The controls suck, if you think otherwise youre lying to yourself. Realisticly, Mass Effect, CoD4, Halo 3, and Mario Galaxy are the only contenders. Bioshock is good but FPS-wise CoD4 and Halo3 shit all over it, and story-wise Mass Effect should trump it.

MP3? Metroid Prime 3? U crazy? thats plays like a dream.

Well so far I think Bioshock is definitely a contender, amazing game. Mario Galaxy looks awesome, if it delivers it could pick up GOTY.

Gamer4eva, the controls suck. A fixed crosshair that you aim is much better than one that moves everywhere, and turning is terrible. There is a reason there is no multiplayer, and that reason is sloppy controls.

Bioshock is way, way overrated, but it will get some best single player awards from dumbass nubasses.

Halo 3 and UT3 (if it counts for ' 07) will probably take most of the best multiplayer game awards, but TF2 has a chance at them too.
Halo 3 will probably take best console game.
Orange box as a whole will get some awards.
Portal will get some but nothing huge because it was just a short game.
HL: Episode 2 will get some sort of expansion pack awards.
COD4 will probably get a few awards, but there is really tough competition.

That is what I think will happen.

As of now I would pick Halo 3 for best console game and best console multiplayer game by far, and probably UT3 for best multiplayer game, but it has to come out first.
