That' s why blu-ray is important. The BD drive in PS3 is only a 2X, but once we start seeing 12X (10,000RPM) they' ll be pretty damn fast. BD will likely see speeds up to 15KRPM due to thinner discs. Which eventually gives BD a top speed of 18X.
DVD@12X=16.2MB/s
BD@12X=54MB/s
DVD@20X=27MB/s
BD@18X=81MB/s
HD DVDs top speed would have been 41MB/s
Now you know why I wanted HD-DVD to die.

You are a bit off. Considering the drive speed of the PS3, 4 GB would take close to about 16-17 minutes to install.
