Any way to silence my 360? - Jan 30, 2007 00:51
The only thing that annoys me about my 360 is THE NOISE!
Is there anyway to silence it without it overheating?
I wanna play at nights but I cant without waking my parents up!!!

I have the same problem. I think it' s too loud (sorry Quez but I really do).
I have to turn up the volume pretty high to not be annoyed by the noise.
But if you play at night, why not wear headphones with high volume? It should be impossible to hear the 360 then.
The bad part is that you might find it difficult to voice-chat but if you can' t have a high volume then you probably can' t speak out loud anyway.

No way to make it quieter yet. It' s my DVD tray that makes the most sound. Playing Live arcade is a lot easier on the ears.

Perhaps when they get round to tempting us with an HDMI, HDDVD, 60nm version, they' ll oblige us with a quieter, sleeker unit.

There are thee ways to have a quiet 360 that I know of.

1. Wait for the revised 65nm 360 and pray they use a half decent disc drive this time.

2. the cheapest way but involves opening up your 360 is to open the case and install noise dampening material similar to what you can put inside your computer case. I found a site that shows you how to do this. There are a few pages with step by step instructions.
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2066860,00.asp

3. this mothod is extreme but can actually make your 360 more zippy, and help it perform the way it was intended to as the 360 operates sluggisshly due to the high temps. Water cooling! They have a 360 kit for this. Apparently after installing the water cooling kit the menus feel a lot less laggy and you get better framerates in the games without overclocking ofcourse as they would fuck everything up.

I suppose you could try all methods when the revised 360 comes out in a year, which would be pretty expensive but the results should be kick ass. Personally I' m not inclined to install a water cooling kit to any console before my compouter gets a water cooling. I' ll probably just buy one of the newer 360' s.

I bought the cooling stand for it and it is really noisy, but the sound drownds it out. I dont think theres anyway your 360 can be that loud.

I don' t think the console is load at all... as long as you have your volume turned on it completely covers up the 360. Especially surround sound. Then again I have my 5.1 shaking my apartment when I' m playing a game or watching a dvd....

Just play an acrade game when your parents are asleep... just wondering, how far is your 360 from your parent' s room? My 360 is on the opposite side of the house and in the basement so I can at least hear my parents comming and run off before I get in trouble.

Talismoon Whisper Fans (Xbox 360)

It requires voiding your warranty & soldering some stuff but these things are dang quiet, & they glow in red/green/blue depending on which ones you buy.

Edit: I highly reccommend the site I linked to, excellent stuff.

To kill something without a soul is like killing yourself.

<ZING!>

Wow that was lame.
