En af årets helt store spørgsmål i it-verdenen er, hvordan det går i format-krigen mellem HD DVD og Blu-ray. Her tyder meget på, at HD DVD har fået en meget magtfuld allieret.

Da en lignende kamp mellem formaterne Betamax og VHS skulle afgøres i 80érne, siges det, at VHS vandt, fordi porno-branchen foretrak formatet frem for Betamax. Derfor skeler mange også til, hvilket format pornobranchen vælger nu.

HD DVD har et forspring
Det amerikanske it-site TG Daily er som så mange andre i øjeblikket på it-messen CES 2007 i Las Vegas. Her er porno-industrien også repræsenteret i stor stil, og derfor har nyheds-sitet udnyttet muligheden til at lave sin egen ikke-videnskabelige undersøgelse. Og her er tendensen klar: HD DVD har et forspring.

»HD DVD er lettere at producere, billigere at producere og der er flere HD DVD-afspillere i hjemmene, end der er Blu-ray-afspillere,« påstår en talsmand fra pornostudiet Bangbros.

»Kun de store producenter har råd til Blu-ray og selv for dem, kan det ikke svare sig økonomisk,« siger en talsmand.

Yes thats right, the porn industry has outspokenly talked against using Blueray because its too expensive.

This is a serious blow to Sony, it was the porn industry who decided for VHS and they won.

I thought the rental market made VHS won. Of course, many people rented porn. But now you can download stuff on the Internet so I don' t know if this will have a big impact.

i dont think you shoulder underestimate the porn market, if i remember correctly 40% of all DVD sales are porn! That number will almost directly transfer to HD-DVD

the production of Blu ray movies is too expensive, and rumours are saying that major movie companies have said that they will drop the Sony support of Sony deals with the Industry!

I believe every media (stuff that you store information on) that uses some kind of optical stuff (like lasers, the sun, light) to extract the data from the medium it' s stored on, is optical. At least I think that' s what optical media is.

I don' t think it' s a matter of the porn industry " choosing" HD-DVD. My friend told me that Sony isn' t allowing porn to be produced on Blu-gay, and this article (as well as a couple of others) confirm it.

It seems as though Sony WANTS Blu-gay to fail! Maybe there' s some obscure Japanese tax shelter that they' re trying to take advantage of (also called, " pulling an Uwe Boll" ).

A lot of ppel/ companies will chose HD DVD rather than blu ray, because the market isn' t ready for it. Sony keeps on pushing and hoping others follow.
