MIDI!!!

How on earth can you hear the audio in the way it was intended with MIDI!? I hate teaching gm midi soundset. Out of principle I despise what midi renditions of game music is supposed to sound like. [:' (]

It reminds me of web pages from 1995 with audio you couldnt kill without throwing your speakers off the desk in frustration, and the jingly jangly tones would just make their way through some other device instead like the mouse!

It' s not abou the quality of my soundcard either. I hate the sheer concept of their only being one or two pianos, one synth sweep pad, two synth basses etc.. you just cant diminish clever tunes which made use of the best chip / synths available down to MIDI!

Well I gues you could make an argument that as long as the melody remianed roughly accurate? But still! Will post up links to my fave music online shortly! Not in MIDI!

*edit* Is it wrong to upload and link to some files which Yuzo Koshiro made publicly available on his " Ancient" Webiste a few months ago which have now been removed as they only display the curent months work / news? I have the pant wettingly awesome collections of saturn and MD early works in a megamix mp3 format...

Almost. But the Splinter Cell: Double Agent theme has to be my favorite right now.

Next only being the Original Metal Gear Solid Theme.

My favorite gamesong is the title score from ' Cannon Fodder' ..
A old amiga-game, were you controlled a small squad of soldiers..

You can download it here:
http://www.mirsoft.info/gmb/music_info.php?id_file=MTU0

Play it in winamp, or any other player wich accepts amiga-modules. :)
Probably not as cool if you havn' t played the game, good thing Jack Thompson didn' t hear the lyrics on that song.. :)

Everyone needs to listen to uncle Terry and check out these two tracks:

http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/2215/11290

http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/2215/11298

From ' The Best of the Amiga Scene' ... I have always LOOOOVED those two themes from that CD, especially the first 45 seconds of both tracks!

I will be back with A LOT more recommendations.. That' s not a promise, that' s a threat!
