Windows Vista prices leaked - Aug 29, 2006 09:12
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/software/start-saving-vista-prices-leaked-197123.php

Note that the info was taken from a Canadian site and the prices were converted to US dollars so they may not be exact, assuming that they' re correct to begin with.

Personally I think the prices are steap but I was expecting such. I' ll probably end up buying the Vista Home Premium Upgrade next summer.

when you install vista, does it destory everything on your hard drive or simply replace xp?
Change is inevitable. Except from a vending machine.

I think if you install the upgrade you can transfer you files to the new os. Or you could piggy back Vista onto XP and have both os' s installed dividing your HDD in half and giving you the option to choose OS' s. Although I have no idea why you would want to do that unless you' re a security freak.

If you buy the complete OS I' m not sure how it works. Probably the same way except you would have paid more for nothing if you want to use it to replace a MS os.

So to answer your question, I don' t believe you have to lose your files if you want to keep them, its just a matter of using the transfer wizard or whatever. That being said I have a hunch that certain obscure programs might not work on Vista. We' ll only know for sure once the os is released I guess.

Just pirate it! :) I wouldn' t buy that OS until it is widely supported, and I am hearing that many XP and earlier apps simply won' t run under Vista. When Vista comes out, I will finally upgrade my PC from 2000 to XP.

Once native DX10 games start pouring out gamers are going to make the switch pretty fucking fast.

Windows products are worse than Playstation consoles - I' d never switch to one before it' s established - everyone who makes the switch when it comes out will become a free beta tester for MS (and he will be one for 2 years probably).

XP has become a very good system now , but it took a lot of betatesters work :)

ah who cares, Xp does it right, What does Vista bring in? a more demanding system os with a nice graphical look, I dont like the looks of those gadgets, ..and, erm what else does it have?

Oh yeah, a stupid price tag, I wont be upgradeing untill its mainstream or I get fed up with Xp and download the illegeal version.

Same here. I' m wary of switching over to the bigger-better OS, untill I' ve let the guinea pigs in front get mowed down by Microsoft.
