RE: Mac OSX Leopard - or as they call it ...Vista2.0 :) - Aug 10, 2006 19:50

does this mean nothing gets deleted?

I' m sure there are posisbilities to delete something permanently :)

Did you know that when you delete a file , it' s still there untill it' s overwritten with something else? " Delet" is simply a permision to overwrite,at the same time it makes the " deleted" file invisible - that' s why some specialists can restore a lot of data from computers.

I' m staying with PC' s and windows because of the price - at least for now.

The funny thing though is that you can run XP under MacOS (windows in a window? how cool is that?) with 100% speed (on intel based Macs)

I' m getting me a Mac one day , it' s just not today, tomorrow, next week or even ... :)

Why is this mac stuff in the videogames section?

Because Level 5 members can do whatever they want and others must simply obey HUAHUAHUAHAUAAAAAHAHGHAHAAHHAHA

:)

...yea...

....i' m no tech but as far as i understand it, the more times a file is overwritten during a ' delete' , then the more difficult it is to restore said file, which effectively increases the chances of that file remaining ' deleted' .....

....it will be interesting to see how Leopard' s Time Machine works with Tiger' s current ' Secure Empty Trash' command, which allows for the kind of multi-level file overwriting which PC users get from third parties.....

you can run xp on intel macs, it isn' t in a window, you press a command to switch over, just like the old machines that had both mac and windows. Someone had that at a LAN I went to not too long ago.

there are few options - one is running it in a window.

okay, didn' t know you could go in a window, that is pretty cool.

If you just delete a file it is possible to restore it. If you write over that place on the hard drive with another file it is impossible to restore it. If you format your hard-drive (not a quick format a full straight up format) everything will be gone and impossible to restore. That stuff you see in movies is just a bunch of hollywood bs.

I want to start a business by taking advantage of clueless people as well. I will sell these complete morons an operating system, but I' ll have a Home edition, a Professional edition, a Server edition, a Media edition and a whole bunch of other editions so people get confused and spend too much because they need a small little feature only included in the expensive editions.

Actually, no. If you want to do things like, oh I don' t know, play games on a PC, you need Windows and you can' t create a substitute. People working in certain fields might also need certain operating systems because it' s the only thing their shit will run on.

You don' t need alienwares for anything, they are a scam designed for clueless fucks, your comparison is asinine and doesn' t even make sense.

Alienwares are good if you are rich. I just got all the parts for my new PC that I' m building. Compared to an alienware with the same stuff I saved $2000. My computer in total costed $2000 (including monitor).

$2000 doesnt produce a very high end PC, my Processor alone is worth $999.99, I doubt alienware even carries that CPU, and if they did it would easily cost $1200-1500.

If you build something that' s actually high end on alienware you easily get $6000-7000 quotes, wheras you can build the same thing with better quality material for $3000-4000 on your own.

The only reason you should buy brand name pc' s is if you have deals with the manufacturers, my company has a deal with dell and we get decent PCs and LCDs for dirt cheap, otherwise there is no reason.

I don' t know what movies you were talking about , but you can burn/crash your HDD and there are people that will restore 90% of your files.

1000$ for a CPU? that' s great if you' re building a space shuttle, but for a home PC - it' s just showing off (unless CPU' s are extremely expensive in the US).

Brand PC' s have one signifficant advantage - they' re optimised (cooling, build) and easy to configure (drivers and shit all on one disc).

Avarage PC user wouldn' t be able to do all this shit right and he' d face some problems like overheating, noise, stability (drivers) and others.

But yeah, if you know what you' re doing you can build a great machine for much less. And you have that joy of making it :)

That´s great. It´s just like the explorer history. I bet my granny that it won´t go long till Microsoft copies the system.

A processor worth $999? That' s not high end, that' s stupid!

I would just like to point out my CPU costed $330 which is a core 2 duo 6600 and the core 2 extreme is $1000. The core 2 extreme is only 15% better.

I can' t help but lawl upon you.
And Alienware has it too. Alienware always has the best parts.

I pay $3000 for something that' s worth $3000. You pay $2000 for something that' s worth $800, who is the fucking idiot? You are.

Actually it is 30%-40% better.

If my CPU is 30% better, my GPU 30% better, by ram 30% better, on all levels including overclocking, my performance will be much greater than yours. Jealousy is a weak emotion.

Ok, so you' re a scientist? If not then it doesn' t make sence to buy a $3000 PC.
I haven' t bought anything worth $800 for $2000. You' re weird.

Ok, but if a $1500 PC can play all the current games without any problems at all, why should I bother with a $3000+ PC?

Yout don' t even know what I have. And without overclocking it is impossible for yours to be 30% better. And even if it was 30% better my computer would straight up blow yours away in price/performance comparison.
And if you actually do have all of the latest parts I have even less respect for you (if that is possible).
And why would I be jelous? You are one of those idiots in extreme denial who has convinced himself everyone wants to be just like himself to prevent himself from suicide. While the truth is no one likes you.

Your processor is about 200+ more expensive than the machine I bought.

3200+ amd
1.5gb ram
6600Gt

It plays Oblivion and the new games fine, thats What I wanted. And I am happy with it.

Nah, my spare (2.5 year old) PC has better specs than that and oblivion plays like shit, athlon 64 3500+ (overclocked to 4000+ speeds) 2gb ram, readeon x800xtpe andthe game just chugs. Couldn' t imagine playing it on a 6600gt and with 3200 athlon... you' d have to turn alot of stuff off and play at low res.

You obviously have low quality standards.

Yeah in other words you' re jealouse.

Move on bud. My PC is better than yours, wow, end of the world, get over it.
