Ferrari F355. 2 x DC Link Up Mode - Jul 04, 2003 12:41
What with DC' s going for about £20 a time on eBay, I was considering buying a second DC and an additional copy of F355 to take advantage of the 2 screen networked mode (mainly I' m thinking how cool it would be around Monza).

What I want to know is:

1. What lead do I need to connect the 2 DC' s?
2. Has anyone else tried this and if so how well does it work?

Cheers

I probably would have posted, but sadly, this thread started 3 and a half years after I joined. In fact, most people posting here weren' t around back then.

BTW, what page was this on? I' m just wondering, because July 04, 2003 is a hell of a long time ago.

If I was about I didn' t reply because I didn' t know the answer! Good job finding your topic though and your comment made me laugh out loud.

Kikizo probably only had like 3 users back then. Some of us didn' t even know it existed...

Hahahahaha, ...but anyway, did you buy the 2nd Dreamcast in the end?

I just bought a dreamcast. Turns out the postage is pratically the same price as the console + controller + vmu + 7 games.

Still I will finally be able to play Shenmue 2 after over a year of owning and not playing.

4 years? I am not even that old. I am 3. ha!

I guess Joe or Adam or Terry might remember.

Screw buying a Dreamcast on eBay.[:' (]

I' m off to an Easter party ATM, but you will get a detailed answer from me at some point. Hope the 3 year wait was bearable. Breifly though, I' m terrified that It' ll require buying 2 Dreamcast broadband adapters to connect them together. (Dreamcast broadband adaptors go for 4 times the price of a DC & Games bundle on ebay... easy)

I' d give you the one I got with my Dreamcast /\ /\ /\, but as you can see, eeeza little roachy.

Edit 1:

I was considering buying a second DC and an additional copy of F355 to take advantage of the 2 screen networked mode (mainly I' m thinking how cool it would be around Monza ).

Mmmkay, so I' ve got a couple minutes before I' m expected, so I' ll try to give as many details as possible..

1. I don' t remember Ferrari-cast having online mode. You could download ghosts of other players games, but no online from what I recall.

(Add more when I get more time!)

I think all you would need is a straightforward crossover cable but it' s been so long since I looked into it that I' ve kinda forgot all the details.

F355 did have a sort of pseudo online mode. You all put in a laptime and once everyone was finished all the laps were downloaded and replayed as a single race. Sounds crap but it was actually very addictive. One of my favourite DC games.

I remember playing Metropolis street racer on the Dc [or now what is called Project Gotham Racing]. And thinking it was complete crap. and it was. But I like PGR3, 360 owners should buy it.

You need a serial link cable which is pretty pricey and hard to get nowadays...
Last time I saw it was like 2 years ago at Lik-Sang, for about USD 40, but then again lik-sang doesn' t exist anymore...

btw, I' m owning 3 DC consoles atm [there was a time when I had 6 of them ] and I' ve been lately thinking about getting that cable, because of F355 as well

Long live DC!

(Yes, the games are still being released in Japan... the last one, Karous released last month was actually pretty good )
