I have it preordered and will get it $10 cheaper than retail just because.  I am looking forward to it.  it will be good but I do not expect it to be the best thing ever, God of War games never are, but they are still enjoyable.

I don't know why you HATE this game so much by giving it an 8.  Giving a game a 10 means you like it, anything below means you hate it and you think the game sucks.  This is one of many things I have learned from the internet.

If you think this lot are bad, check the Gametrailers/IGN review threads. There are people on there bitching because the game got a whole *0.4* lower than they thought it should. Jesus Christ.

You rated the game one point too high Edwin. I would've scored it a 6.5 or 7.0 and challenged the complainers to meet me in a parking lot somewhere. ;)  AND I'd bring Joe Redifer as back-up. I hear he's REALLY good at parking lot brawls. :D

This reminds me of a forum I once stumbled upon where they were nagging about the fact that a game got 8,9 and not a 9,0. One guy even went so far that he regretted his preorder and another one would not rent it anymore because of that score...

I'm actually considering writing some comments rules and regs on the strength of this. I'd prefer not to, really - everybody's entitled to their opinions - but some of the responses are ridiculous. One chap (Mr "boycott this site") is pretending to be three different people. Another is making borderline anti-Semitic remarks.

I suppose the basics would be:

No hating (i.e. abusing another user unnecessarily)
No bigotry in all its forms (racism, sexism, etc)
No trolling

Any suggestions? Adding an "ignore post/poster" button would probably be a more effective and flexible solution, but there are the usual technical hurdles.

One of the comments even said that you should pull off an amazing feat like seeing into the future and scoring the game as other regular gamer folks who haven't even touched the game yet would score the game. So I  guess every gamer in the world is going to give the game the same score, Lol.. I had NO idea you could see into the future Edwin! ;)

I'm still a little floored that people are treating a score of 8 out of 10 like it's an awful score.. There are 4 friggin games in the God of War series, do they actually think God of War III is different enough from the rest of the series and innovative enough to warrant a 9 or 10 score??    I tend to think that a score of 8 means that a game is Great, 7 means a game is Good, 6 means it's a little above-average, and 5 and below means to Run away!

I don't know how far I am through the game so far percentage-wise (I just "entertained" Aphrodite), but it is pretty good.  I am surprised that no reviews are mentioning the shoddy double-jump controls.  I've died more from not being able to properly do the double jump than from everything else combined. 

I was considering mentioning the double jump, but it only really bothered me once - you just have to tap the button a little faster than you're used to. If you've entertained Aphrodite (saucy bitch) then you're only a couple of hours from the finale, iirc.

Good thing it wasn't me who reviewed Metal Gear Solid 4.  I would have given it maybe a 4 or a 5.  People would have set their computers on fire.

Anyway, I finished up God o' War 3 and it was good, but I enjoyed Uncharted 2, Burnout Paradise, Demon's Souls, Little Big Planet and maybe even Heavy Rain more.  I also did not like the fact that this game is a complete and shameless rip-off of Dante's Inferno.

There isn't enough content, but what is there is incredible. I wasn't too keen on the overly stylized ending but the rest of it had some of the best art direction I've seen in a videogame yet.

The talent at Sony Santa Monica is undoubted, so it'll be interesting to see what they do now that Kratos's story has come to a close.

I would like a chapter/level select once the game is beaten.  I don't want to replay the entire thing in one big chunk just to relive a few cool parts when I want to experience them at a whim. Maybe a chapter select will be offered for $20 via DLC?  Man, DLC rocks!

There's nothing else they can do with Kratos. They could easily use the same universe, but I can't see another GOW game with Kratos as the main protagonist... except maybe on PSP.

I thought the game was Kingdom Hearts with a bloody filter smeared across the camera.

Purely because of the ending though.
