The Last Guardian, Brink, the new Zelda game, Monster Hunter Tri, Red Dead Redemption and (for some reason) StarCraft 2.

The Last Guardian will be good. Hopefully it will turn up before it starts to look dated.

Did you play the first StarCraft?

Not extensively, but enough to know how crazily ahead of its time it was. I haven't played a really good real-time strategy game for a while - transcribing Adam's interview with the C&C4 peeps has given me the itch :p

Empire: Total War is good, as is Supreme Commander.... but nothing beats World in Conflict as far as I'm concerned.

Forget Empire - I'm still on Rome! Need to give World in Conflict a try. Did you ever get hold of Warzone 2100?

Nah... I spent most of 99 playing Metal Gear Solid. Well, until Dreamcast hit the UK.

I think I've already had mine in ME2.  It delivered.

Next up, Halo: Reach.  It's a brilliant year already and I'm looking forward to a host of other titles aside from these two.

Anything from Cave (or any other capable developer(s)) that falls under the 2D shoot 'em up category.

If I had my way we'd also be getting a follow-up to last year's Bourne game, Wrestle Kingdom 3 and Project Sylpheed 2. Also a sequel to Ninja Blade, which I actually enjoyed more than the Ninja Gaiden games (ducks for cover).

StarCraft 2  Blizzard please send me a beta key.

Halo: Reach  I'm not sure if it will be good or not, I don't really know what to expect.

Pwnage of Empires  RTS for 360 where you can pilot individual units like a shoot 'em up.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwzEDwPTCTw

Never even heard of Ninja Blade.  Is that GameBoy Advance or something?

Terry, play Bayonetta if you want some Sega fan-loving.  Welcome to the fantasy zone.

As long as you didn't enjoy Ninja Blade more than Devil May Cry, that's fine with me :)

Tell you what I'd like to see? A sequel to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Absolutely loved that game, despite getting repeatedly creamed by the last boss. Used to play it with my brother on PS2.

Bayonetta was better than any Devil May Cry game.

I think I might pick up Heavy Rain for PS3 after playing the demo.  I don't like how slow the characters move or that I sometimes have to shake the controller, but otherwise it's cool.  I will also pick up 3D Dot Game Heroes.  I don't know of anything else that is coming out.

Ninja Blade is for the Xbucket 360 and it's basically Shenmue meets Ninja Gaiden. ;)

I checked out the demo of Bayonetta the other night but was half asleep while doing so! I'll have to give it another go when I'm wide awake because I actually fell asleep during a boss battle, lol. I am SERIOUSLY sleep-deprived.

Bayonetta is one of the few games any more with a sound test... granted you must beat it first.  The soundtrack comes on 5 CDs otherwise.  Contrary to what you might think sometimes while playing, it does have more than one piece of music in the game.

This year seems crazy already.

I already bought Darksiders, which was a nice surprise since i cant have Zelda on the consoles i own.

Also Mass Effect 2 was really ace, though they killed a bit too much of the RPG feel from the first one.

I preordered God of War 3, as im playing through the God of War collection now, its awesome, though i can't quite get my fingers and head to understand im not holding an Xbox pad so i have a hard time with the QTE's

Which brings me to heavy rain, nice mood in the demo, though why couldnt i fuck the prostitute? and the thug afterwards really beat the crap out of me, since i couldnt hit any button the right way. In anycase its on my to get list, though im not sure ill get it on wendesday since i have Bioshock 2 i need to play as well.

As for games not yet released, im looking forward to Alan Wake, itll be nice to finally see what Remedy has been doing for 6 fucking years.

Definetly Starcraft II, and should we be so lucky Diablo 3.

Halo Reach will be awesome, i loved the book.

As someone said, Last guardian, i keep hoping sony will do a Team Ico collection, so i can complete Ico and SotC

ohh and Civ 5 ofcourse.

StarCraft 2 and SupCom 2 (which looks fucking SICK)

2010 is looking good already but in my eyes it will be year of the RTS

The only track that ever seems to play in the game is the one with the vocals which are apparently in some form of bastardized english, I don't even know what the fuck the lyrics are saying.

I found the lyrics for it online, LOL:

Bayonetta, you´re a mystery (Who)
You come along with a destiny (are you?)
This is your life, a battlefield telling you who you are
(A mystery, Bayonetta)
Bayonetta, this is your time (Hold tight)
You gonna sparkle, you gonna shine (Moon light)
Girl, when you fight it looks like a dance, you are magic, you´re magic...
(you´re dancing beautiful, Bayonetta)

ROFL!  That game is bat-shit crazy.  It's set to the tune of Fly Me To The Moon.  You hear the real lyrics in the end credits.

I need to check that track out Emofag, as Joe says it was Fly Me to the Moon all the way for me.

Repeated listens of that and Street Fighter 4's "Indestructible" theme tune are enough to send anyone mental.

It's Fly Me to the Moon with different lyrics.  The real song plays during the credits, but not the Sinatra version.

Halo Reach is looking good, and Crysis 2 is going to be fucking killer... but I need to see more of the next Ghost Recon game before I get too worked up about it. The GRAW games were awesome (console and PC versions) but the trailer for the new game looks awful.

I can't believe I forgot about Crysis 2, thanks for the reminder.

Off subject for a second, I recently started playing through Dante's Inferno for the first time, and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed so far. Controls are tight, story is solid, and not to mention a very pretty game. Thing I've liked most so far believe it or not, the Heavy Metal inspired cartoon flashbacks, or am I the only one who is reminded of Heavy Metal in the style of the animation in these flashbacks?

Remember how I said the reason Crysis performed like shit wasn't because "the graphics are omg so amazing" but because the engine was shit?

I fucking told you so.

That's not the point, the point is you can't even do Crysis with the Unreal engine.  It proves nothing to say a Honda Civic is more efficient than a Ferrari 458.

And big shock that the new version is more efficient with more features.

The best thing about the engine, for me at least is how flexible it is. Some of the stuff that people have done with it has been incredible. I'm not so bothered about a lack of optimization as long as it plays smoothly when you throw enough grunt at it.

Crysis 2 looks like it's going to be badass ;-)

Can't agree about the console version sucking. Don't have the game yet but I played it at last year's E3 and LOVED it. Felt it was the very first mascot-based SEGA racer that I enjoyed.

Yeah, even die-hard Mario Kart fans are loving Sega All Star Racing, maybe even preferring it.  My friend brought over the PS3 version and I enjoyed it, but I did notice some 60fps to 30fps back-and-forth action in a few areas.  Not annoying enough to detract from  the gameplay, though.

Thats the exact reason why i dont like the consoles versions.. they should of optimized them constant@60fps.. its a dam shame cos it does knock back the overall quality of an already superb Kart/Circuit Racer.

I think the city setting will help this game a lot compared to a boring Island.

I just spotted Pat's first impressions of Crysis 2 on VG247.

He's taken a rather eccentric approach, more parody of an event report than event report in itself I feel. What do you chaps think? Does this tick your boxes?

He comes accross as a fucking tard.

Eurogamer's write-up is a better read.

Crysis 2 will be godly, but I wish they'd stop dicking around with the console versions and show the engine running on PC. The console stuff has been nice enough to get an idea of where they're heading with it - but it all still looks graphically sub-par in comparison with the original game.
