Yakuza 3 - 20 minute presentation - Oct 12, 2008 14:41
Has anyone seen this already?

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41289.aspx

It's also available in standard definition and there is also another trailer there.

To me these are the best games/series that Sega have created in a long while. I think that the graphics and atmosphere are great. The amount of detail is amazing at times. This is about the only thing that I'm really looking forward to at the moment.

This reminds me so much of the "other" sega game we are not supposed to talk about here .  The game really seems to epic .

Sega is kicking all kinds of ass with this.  They've really developed this series well.  I just hope it can be brought to the West and gain the audience it deserves worldwide.

Thats amazing.  I never really followed the Yakuza series, did they make a big splash in the West?  I dont really remember seeing them in the UK.  I would have loved to play them though.

Can't go wrong with kareoke and dating sim minigames. :P

They've been critically well-received, but couldn't really be described as "hits" yet in the West.  Although having said that, I think they've sold well enough for Sega to continue localizing the series for North America and Europe.

The first one was released in the west a while after it hit Japan.

The second one...that's another story. If I remember well it was released in Japan somewhere towards the end of 2006. As for the west, well we got the game...although it was only released not long ago over here. Maybe a month or so.

The games are great though. Usually if you like things like Shenmue and MGS, then there's a big chance you'll like the Yakuza series.

If you haven't played any of them. Well I'd say just pick them up. Not like you'll pay a lot for the first one anymore these days and Yakuza two hit the shelves here for merely 30€. I find it to be a series that many people have overlooked so far, in my opinion the games are certainly worth buying.

Yes, "that" game. A bit like : that day, the day of the incident ;)

It's strange though that the series is a very huge hit in Japan but got kind of average reviews here. The first game went for practically nothing on Ebay after a few weeks since people thought that it was crap. It did have some issues with loading times before battles but besides that I thought that the game was great. The second one improved in that area at least which was good.

Well, it's pretty culturally specific to Japan.  Although anyone who's into Mafia stories should be able to appreciate the Yakuza.

Yeah the first time i saw that it gave me the same impression i got when i first saw Shenmue on DC (yes i said it! /starts running). The graphics are the most realistic ive ever seen (still not perfect though) and the game world seems to be huge and diverse. I cant wait for this game so Ill make sure to finish the first 2 games before that then.
