Because kickball was already taken?? Besides, is not like a " baseball" is shaped like a base or " basketball" is shaped like a basket. It seems all three are named using things that define the game. In football, you are using your foot, so it makes sense. Unless you want to call it " Goalball' , which sounds retarded.

My question is, why do they call it soccer?? It means absolutely nothing. And why call American Football " Football" ? It should be called Tackleball or something, is not like they play the game by kicking the ball, even though it is a play.

Duff, I take it your a Manc then? It was a good game and for once the better team won (My god am I mellowing in my old age!!!) I did feel for JT and Fat Frank but the rest of money hungry B' stards or Abramovich' s roubles I couldn' t give a flying fook about.
