PC vs 360 vs PS3 vs Wii

The biggest and most important games slated for release this year by platform...

EDIT: Added Wii

NOTE: since this isn' t about which platform has the best software lineup, multiplatform games are only listed on the platform either confirmed to be, or most likely to be the lead development platform. For example, Far Cry 2 is planned for PC, 360 and PS3, but the console versions will be ports of the PC version, so it gets listed under PC. Some i' ve had to guess so a couple could be wrong, ...if you know something is incorrect then let me know and i' ll amend it.

I know i said i wasn' t going to but...

Because there' s so much trash being developed for Wii (Garfield gets Real, De Blob, Cocoto Magic Circus, My Horse and Me, Wild Petz Tigerz, etc, etc, etc...) i' m only listing what i' ve either heard of or what sounds passable. If there' s something genuinely interesting or something that will sell by the assload - and i haven' t posted it, let me know.

Again i' m not listing games that are already on the market in some form, so House of the Dead 2 & 3 isn' t on there because they' re not new games. Same for Bully, same for Brother in Arms etc...

Wii

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity

Endless Ocean

No More Heroes

Bomberman Land

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

Sega Bass Fishing

Worms: A Space Oddity

Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed

Rygar: The Battle of Argus

2008 will be better than 2007 if not much better, 2007 would have been the best year in VG history " ever if hadn' t many games slipped to 2008."

please correct my grammar.

I' m guessing the Final Fantasy games won' t make it out this year, especially Versus. It' s also kinda funny what I' ve learned about the White Engine being used to power the games.

1- It' s a multiplatform engine that Square plans on making as their company standard. Does this mean FF is coming to 360... not really, just that we will see 360 games powered by the engine at some point.

2- The engine still doesn' t have the game running on the PS3. That' s at least the most recent update I' ve heard. The game is still running on workstations. That' s the main reason I doubt we' ll see Versus if not both games being released this year.

3- The White Engine isn' t really an engine at all. It' s numerous separate programs developed to run specific pieces of a game. It' s nothing like a normal, all-in-one engine like UT3 for example where everything pretty handled by a single program (unless you count Unreal Script as separate). It' s been developed to cater specifically to their needs and not for other companies to use.

This comes from a guy at Square but I really can' t say anything else about it.

No dice. Vegas looks trash and the Club is trash.

I' m good like that.

It' s not my kind of game either, but it' s " important" for PS3 - so it gets listed.

Did you play the 360 demo of The Club??? The PS3 version is awful [:' (]

Guitar Hero is irrelevant now that Rock Band has been released.

Not hardly. Rock Band is bloody expensive, and Guitar Hero still has the name behind it. The rich kiddies are going to be playing Rock Band, but the hype, the label, the tournaments... they all still belong to Guitar Hero as far as I' m concerned.

Content and playability wise? That' s a whole other story, but there' s no denying it' s still going to be huge for quite a while.

You think StarCraft 2 is coming out in 08? They haven' t even stated a release date yet. I know it looks done, but this is blizzard here.

The game is basically done. They have just been working on balancing the game pretty much since it was first announced. The game was playable for pretty much the entire Blizzard staff the week after it was first announced. The technical and artistic aspects are from what I' m told from my friend at Blizzard basically complete. I can definitely see a winter release for this game.

It' s going to keep the new bright colors. I don' t really like how it makes everything look all cartoony but my friend at Blizzard said it' s for gameplay purposes. It makes units really stand out from the background making it easier to locate units and keep them form blending in with the background. That' s understandable considering how in WCIII I tend to misplace some of my units.

I also went on a huge bitch fest over how retarded the Reapers look for the Terrans and that' s when he told me that the game was already to the point where they weren' t making changes to the art or the technical stuff. What we' ve seen is pretty much what were going to get. I freaking hate how stupid the reapers are. They seem like a useless unit and their look doesn' t fit the SC universe at all. F*cking Reapers!

Just with MGS4 and NG2, my year is made. Though I am eagerly awaiting several of those titles, specially LBP and FFXIII, though Versus will probably slip into 09, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for XIII to manage to make it this year. I am also waiting on new info for Heavy Rain. Supposedly it was gonna show up this year sometime, but I have no idea wether or no the Quantic Dream team will finish it for this year.

Anywhooo, I think this is going to be the best year to get a PS3 (especially if a certain Kingdom Hearts 3 is confirmed).

I guess a KH3 confirmation is not out of the question, though I' ll probably be a long time before we see something, as Nomura is busy with Versus and that doesn' t seem like it' ll be out this year.

I' ll be adding PSP, DS, Live Arcade, PSN, the Virtual Console and a screenshot for every game under it' s name... just as soon as i get some time...

As for Haze, ...i don' t think anybody really knows now. It was PS3 exclusive, ...then it was multiplatform, ...then it was PS3 exclusive... then i stopped caring and lost track...

But obviously that' ll depend on getting the PS3 version shipped on time. It' s already slipped once (or twice), and Ubisoft is unlikely to move the other versions further back into the fiscal year.

I' d like to know whether they' ve been having difficulties with the PS3 game. Every preview so far has looked rough and the multiplayer looks like ass. I love Free Radical, but i can see the game bombing badly at this point.

I' d rather not guess but if I had to it would be working with the PS3 that' s been causing the delays. They wouldn' t be the first company encountering problems. I' m really not to excited about this game anyway. I remember their presentation at E3 2006 and it was pretty lackluster. At least I got free mints out of it...

I think you should probably put both FF13/Versus in the 2009 category Nitro. While Japan may see them end of 08, it' s almost certain that we won' t before 2009. It' ll take months for any localization to be done.

Yeah, it looks a heck of a lot better than all movie to game adaptations. Well, not that accomplishing that should be hard, but I am glad to see that the developers seem to be putting some true effort into it. The ghostbusters game is also looking mighty nice!

I give Ghostbusters about a 5% chance of being good. I' d love for it to be a really cool game, but so many movie to game adaptations are just phoned in. Maybe this one has a chance because it' s a bit more of a cultural icon than just any movie.

Well, both Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis are writing the script, and all original cast members are back, so at least we can say its coming from the same masterminds from the film. Hopefully they do get the engine up and running and the gameplay to the point they promised it would be.
