Favourite comics? - Jan 12, 2008 18:06
I don' t really buy comics, but my brother in law got me the Watchmen for Christmas. I only read Marvel when I was younger, so this slipped me by, but what can I say? Probably the best graphic novel I' ve ever read in my life. They' re making a film of it due out 2009, but I don' t really see how it will work.

Anyway, I' d thoroughly recommend this to everyone.

I had heard this was coming to a cinema soon, aren' t they also doing a game tie-in as well?

Back when I was young....before the days of the sega master system. I used to get a comic every week called ' Warlord' it' s main character was a WWII spy called Lord Peter Flint , this guy was sent in to get information on German plans during the war and they linked it in with actual WWII events, there were other storys about a multinational Squadron in the future using the Harrier as the aircraft of choice, but I bet you can' t even get it now, shame because whilst it showed fighting and the like, it was also a history lesson as well.

Back in the day I was a big collector of Spider-Man, X-Men, and Venom comics. I have a crap load of them including some rare ones. I fell out of it for a long time but when I get the chance I still catch up on the Ultimate Spider-Man series. I' m also a fan of the Darkness. Ultimate X-Men is pretty good too.

Maus: A Survivor' s Tale - Art Speigelman

An anthropomorphic representation of a holocaust survivor' s story. My absolute all-time favorite graphic novel (certainly not a comic-book, and not an easy read).

V For Vendetta - Alan Moore/David Lloyd (writer/illustrator, respectively)

The movie was okay, but thoroughly disappointing after the magic that was the graphic novel. I definitely suggest anybody who found the movie interesting go out & read the better version of the story.

Read the Watchmen for class. Good stuff.

I only read online comics.
My favorite by far is Dr. McNinja
A good random one, without a story but really funny is Perry Bible Fellowship
Girly is alright too.

I' m a big Fan of Spidey Heroism plus his sense of humor. Spidey' s struggles was always shown thru the comics and how he dealt with them.

On the other side, I' m a much bigger fan of the Ghost Rider. What attracted me to GR was his version of Vengeance. The fact that nothing would stop him from letting evil feel the pain of the innocent 10 fold.
Games are your best friend as long as you don' t start talking to them.

Kombatfighter, did you ever read the Ghost Rider 2099 series? It was a big departure from the original Ghost Rider but I still got a kick out of it as a kid.

John and John (NOT SAFE FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION!!)

He means it!!!

As for me I haven' t read too many comics, but have been raised with knowledge thrown around and so I have picked up quite a bit of information. I believe that Marvel is the only way to go(DC can suck my balls).
