Best movie scene. - Dec 22, 2007 11:18
I had this idea for a while. This is how it works: Show a clip of a best performance. It can be the best performance in a movie, the best of an actors career or just a performance that you really liked. Briefly explain the context of the scene.

Naturally this thread has the potential of giving away a lot of spoilers. So as a courtesy if you would be so kind to simply give the title of the movie first.

I' ll break the ice.

-American Psycho-

Christian Bale plays a psychopath. This scene takes place after a killing spree. He feels like he can no longer contain himself and he believes he can no longer get away with murder. So he calls his lawyer. This scene is amazing when you' re watching the movie.

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=6VXRVq_1EYg

The next day he actually runs into his lawyer but the guy thought it was a joke. LOL, the whole climax was his confession but his lawyer didn' t believe him.

-The Protector-

One of my favorite fight scenes, with Tony Jaa. No introduction needed, just watch.

Blade Runner. Roy' s final scene. By FAR my favorite scene of ANY movie.

I' ll have more, but I had to get this out of the way first.

Ok here' s an obscure one.
Bjork and David Morse in Dancer in the Dark.

I apologize in advance for the length of my explanation, but since I' m pretty sure NO ONE saw this movie, I think it' s needed. Bear with me.

Selma(Bjork) plays an immigrant who is slowly losing her sight due to a hereditary condition. Her son has the same condition, but at his young age, a medical procedure could prevent blindness. Selma has been working ridiulous hours in order to save enough money to get the surgery for him, and she' s been keeping that money in a small tin in her cupboard.

David Morse plays Selma' s friend who has thusfar helped Selma survive on her meager salary. She lives in a trailer in his back yard, etc. However, David is in financial trouble and is rapidly becoming unable to support his wife. He' s been keeping his troubles a secret from his wife by using his savings, but now his savings are almost gone.

Faced with the prospect of telling his wife he' s broke, David decides to steal the money Selma has saved. He' s also fabricated a story about Selma to force his wife to kick her out. Selma is half-blind, but she knows about David' s money problems and figures out pretty quickly who has her money.

The scene starts with Selma' s discovery of the theft and ends when she kills him.
This scene actually made me uncomfortable in the theater. It' s like watching an actual murder.

Long scene, but worth it.

Lots of scenes I really like but finding a clip isn' t easy.
But here' s one I found

-Yojimbo-
Toshiro Mifune plays a ronin who enters a village with two rivaling Yakuza clans and decides to start a war between them, playing on both sides.
This is the part where he shows his skills.
CLIP
It doesn' t take long after that for the two clans to compete with each other in an attempt to hire him as a bodyguard (Yojimbo).

Pretty much any clip featuring Toshiro Mifune is awesome

-Ong-Bak
Tony Jaa (we all love him don' t we) fights a bunch of bad guys before the final fight.
CLIP

-Tom Yum Goong (The Protector)-
Tony Jaa fights a bunch of bad guys before the final fight (see a pattern here?)

-The Departed-

Jack Nicholson and Alec Baldwin both kick some serious ass in this scene. Jack Nicholson playes a big crime boss whom is responsible for the heist of some very expensive " micro processors" . They were going to sell them to the chinese. There' s a rat on each side played by Damon and DiCaprio.

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=XEERw4oOJrU&feature=related

That scene is brilliantly complimented by the next one.

-Kill Bill Vol. 2-

A speach from Bill near the end.

Opening scene from Apocolypse Now....The spinning fan that changes to the chopper blades and The Doors ' The End' playing in the background.

Either that or the cliche' d but still good scene in Platoon when William Defoe is being shot, Barbers adagio for strings playing

Pulp Fiction- The breakfast scene.
Easily one of the best constant dialogues I' ve seen in any movie. All the shots not only make sense, but drive the scene forward with a slight sense of dread or foreboding. The intimidating dialog about hamburgers, of all things, adds to the kafkaesque menace. On the downside, every time I go to a family barbecue I have to explain why I went ' Mmmhhmmm' to my mainly clueless relatives.

This scene is so fucked up and entertaining, just like most of the movie is. Its hard not to laugh even some of the scenes are too grotesque.

there is also the lizard scene, but all in all. if you havent seen the movie i would recommend it!

I completely forgot about this movie! Shows you how much attention I pay to my avatar. But it' s odd, it isn' t a good movie, but it has some extremely funny scenes. They just can' t be seen in sequence.

I know most of the film is a bit schmaltzy but for its intensity the Omaha landing in Saving Private Ryan is one I like. But for tension the final stand-off in the Good the Bad and the Ugly is fantastic especially to Morricone' s great music.

Resan till Melonia, a Swedish animated film has some really cool scenes. If you' re a Disney-fan you won' t like this kind of animated movie.
Here' s a clip where they show the Island of plutonia.

If you ever have the chance to se the film, do it. It has got Shakespear, politics and environment changes stuff in it so adults can enjoy it as well.

I will create the greatest movie scene ever! Eventually.

For now here is one of my favorite scenes in a movie:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith - Shootut Finale
its not the full scene but its all I can find. I love the music and choreography. PLus the movie kicks ass so go pick it up. I suggest the normal version opposed to the unrated one.

I can' t find any videos, but I like the scene of The Omen near the beginning when Damien' s first nanny jumps off the house and hangs herself as this shows how insane the child could drive somebody.

The SWAT firefight from Leon: The Professional.

Leon, played by Jean Reno, takes out an entire swat team using various moves that you know Ubisoft looked at when they created Sam Fisher.

Ghost, be sure to take a look at this one, and tell me it isn' t the most badass scene you' ve ever seen in a live-action movie.

One Shot One Kill

Jackie Chans in Drunken Master 2 end fight:

Iad reminded me of my favorite scene in Clerks. It raises an interesting moral dilemma. Morality should be measured by the effects of the action as opposed to the action itself. Which I would argue is tha basis of subjective morality. This scene demonstrates this more elegantly than anything I' ve scene before.

Yeah, I know. Youtube' s got a 10 minute cap though, and I don' t think anybody captured the entire thing, which is a pity, because the last half, and subsequent final explosion really is the best part of the movie.

Anything from Leon is badass! My favorite from that movie goes to when Leon tells Mathilda that cleaning is not an easy job, and then Mathilda takes this big-ass revolver and starts shooting it out the window, without caring where it hits.. That was intense. I have the movie, I just don' t have a clip for it

Being John Malkovich: the resturant scene.

The premise of the movie is that there is a portal in an office building that when entered allows a person to experience life from inside John Malkovich' s head.

This is what happens when John himself enters the portal:

-Severance

WARNING spoiler, don' t watch or even read my post if you want to see this movie. This movie centers around a goup of employees working for a weapons company. They were suposed to meet the president in some cabin in the middle of nowhere as a weekend get away, but got lost and ended up in the wrong one. Anyways they were chased by some sadistic group of murdering bastards and all but two where killed in the group.

This scene serves as a faux climax as the two remaining employees finally meet the correct cabin and find the president of their company. They explain their dire situation and the President pulls out a fucking rocket launcher. I was thinking fucking EH! Time for some mother fucking payback!

Bad Santa

I love this movie, I' ve yet to see a movie or anything for that matter that has made me laugh more than this masterpiece. Do not watch these clips if you haven' t seen the movie, just go watch it! These scenes are best the first time watching them and far far better in the context of the movie. You have to watch the movie to get the full effect.

It' s about a degenerate lowlife (played by Billy Bob Thornton) who teams up with a black midget who rob shopping malls by gaining inside access (working as Santa Clause) every Christmas. Every year they hit a different mall.
