Adaptec Gamerbridge 1400 - Nov 05, 2007 08:09
For the longest time Ive been wanting to record game footage off my 360. Ive seme numorous methods (mostly expencive and pretty much mroe then ai needed anyways) but I remebered Teamxbox reviewed a lil device called the gamerbridge thats connected the a RCA/S Video device to a PC allowing for real time play and recording with little to no delay. At the time it was around $70-100 which was still too expencive for the basics that I needed.

Anyhow I was scouting around Amazon.com when I came across it for $16. I immediatly grabbed it up and set it for expidited shipping which bought the price up to a measly $29. Of course I wont be able to record HD or anything but im not buying it to showoff graphical prowess, just random clips for any ol random thing. It should be here the same day I get CoD4.

So I was just wondering if anybody else has used this device and what maybe to expect. If no one has then I' ll throw up some clips and thoughts on it when it arrives.

Can you take screenshots with it?

And how does it handle resolutions above 1024x768? Does it crop, skew or not handle the recording at all?

I dunno it wont arrive for a few days still. It does take screenshot just nothing HD since it came out some time ago and only had S-video/RCA connections.

Here' s come Youtube clips (obviously the quality is bought down even more)

For the most part it does what I need it to do. Records gameplay & takes screen shots. As for how good it does all this is yet to be soon personally, for $16 I dont expect professional quality.

You can also get DVR function with the 1410 version but I have a DVR cable box already so I opted out for the basic one...tho in retrospect I realize further potential of recording shows and movies that I couldve placed on DVD or on youtube if say I saw a segment of imence interest.

Well I guess we' ll see what kinda results these yeild. I have the recording set for the " better" option. As soon as I have tim eto compress files and what not I will start using the " best" quality option.

Nice Mass. It looks a pretty cool piece of kit.

Are you using both S-video and the composite connectors so as to avoid lag?

Im using the yellow red and white cords right now. The lag is very minimal for the most part only being slightly hindered by my PCs processor. The only real distracting thing is some ghosting. However the playback usually eliminates all of that. So it works perfect for games that have a replay feature such as skate and halo. Playing straight from it is a bit tedious but very much doable. Im gonna try and pick up a s-video cord to see if it helps. But for $16 Im more then happy.

If you connect the composite cables as you are doing already and then connect the S-video to your TV, you' ll be able to play using your TV as the display without any lag and just leave the computer recording.
