supports full 1080p, and is the cheapest and easily the best blue ray player you can buy, its start up time is very short and is very quiet [i hear the 40gb models are even quieter]

No dedicated Blu-ray player at 400$ surpasses a PS3 even if gaming capabilities are not in consideration. Not yet at least.

Ok so I wanna get rid of my PC, but of course still want internet access. The Wii sucks because its very limited access as I can' t watch many video formats on anysite from WMV & Quicktime porn to the Flash based videos on Gametrailers.

So I was thinking why not massacre several birds with one stone and just get a PS3. I' ll have a next gen video format (tho honestly I could care less)and fancy gaming system that will pay off later. but what i dont know is if I' ll be getting a decent internet browser of any kind...does it even have the option? And if it does will it even be usuable to browse pretty much anysite I want? Etc Etc etc

Or should I just get that Nokia Internet Tablet? Or Should I just get a really cheap barebones PC? I can sell my current PC for roughly $300-400 if I really wanted to maybe more if I can use some trickery...but then Id feel bad...

I' ve read there is no WMP or Real Player Streaming on the PS3 but it supports flash, I don' t know it that' s changed. If that' s the case, you might want to look into installing Linux on the PS3 if that' s all you want as a main device for surfing the net.

If the PS3 works well as an Internet browser, I would go for it.

Well, when my computer broke I had to use my ps3 for a couple weeks to browse th net. It played video' s on youtube and dumpalink etc. It did seem to have trouble with some flash pages, it displays them, but won' t play the video parts.

Pretty much, the only bad part, is that it' s a bit slower than a PC on the internet, but that could be attributed to the fact that I have it hooked up wireless. All in all, it works fine, but if you use the internet a lot, then a computer is definitely better. But if you use it a half hour or so a day, then a ps3 with a M&K works just fine.

As for linux, as far as I understand it work just fine on the ps3. I' ve seen a guy using it to play video' s, access his comp wirelessly, make word documents, use the internet etc. Most of which the ps3 can do w/o, but I imagine using Linux would allow you to view all sorts of media formats.
