The new PSP is so light and sexy, feels like a feather in your hands, I got the Daxter bundle silver PSP, best designed handheld ever.

That is because up to the slim PSP handhelds have sucked ass.

Old PSP = too big and heavy, load times suck ass.
Nintendo DS = Snes/N64 graphics suck ass, too out dated, small screen.
Slim PSP = Big screen, good graphics (for a handheld), light, smaller body, minimal load times.

The new PSP is the perfect handheld.

And daxter is the best platformer I have played since Mario 64 & Banjo, I would' ve never thought of buying it (didn' t like jak & daxter on ps2 much) but since I bought the silver bundle it came with it, glad I did.

Hell yeah I can' t wait for that, with a proper translation no less, I' ll finally be able to understand what the fuck is going on, SCEA' s translation of the PS1 version was shit.

And I usually like black but I don' t like the shinyness of the black psp, it' s like an ipod, gets full of fingerprints and scratched too easily, the silver one has a more rugged texture.

Funny cos the most important change i would' ve have mentioned first (although ill still never buy one of these things as i have a proper handheld that plays proper handheld games).. it has a better D-pad . But a negative is its battery life, which is much shorter, as PSP-slim has a much smaller battery.. (anyone with sense would' ve thought it would of been improved not shortened)

I suppose these two issues are not at the top of the Sony Crowd' s Priority list.

I' ve been using the PSP for quite a while now. Battery time has never bothered me. The d-pad works just as fine as any other d-pad now. Much better than the 360 d-pad even.

the 360 d-pad is the worst cheap motherfucking d-pad i have ever seen for a major console.... congratulation MS.

as for psp d-pad i think it' s all right and the battery never bothered me as well.

The PSP D-pad sucks ass for fighting games (and they' re the only ones that matter right?) but is perfectly serviceable for most other games.

The D-pad is fine, and the battery life is the same, it has a smaller battery because the systems consumes less energy, hours of playtime are still the same. As far as what handheld you like, who cares, you' re a moron with no taste, let' s be relevant here.

I' m glad I waited for the psp lite, now I can cherry pick the best games for the system at cheap prices.

Can you get homebrew on the psp lite without messing with firmware? , [snes emulators mostly]

I' d say it sucks ass for 2D fighting games AND shoot ' em ups ... Thankfully, some developers have the good sense to let us use the analog nub for maneuvering in shooters. Personally, Sony' s d-pad design I' ve always found to work well with slower-paced, non-reflex intensive games, which automatically eliminates 2D fighters and shooters.

Like Evil Man said the battery life is the same but if you use the old battery it will increase to 10-12 hours.

The D-Pad is also improved on the new PSP.

I do find it funny though that you guys should mention the D-pad and fighting games.

The DS doesn' t even *have* a good fighting game. If you' re suggesting the D-pad in the DS is better for fighting games you do realize the DS has *NO* good fighting games, as in Zero, NONE, etc.

With there not being a good fighting game on DS, you don' t know if the dpad is better, you' ve never played a fighting game on DS to know if it' s better or not, assholes.

Yes you can, but it' s harder to do on PSP slim because sony has tightened the security, however if you have or know anyone with an old/hacked psp it' s pretty easy to enable homebrew on the psp slim if you have an old hacked one, you just have to know people.

I know people, so I already have my psp slim running homebrew no problems, I haven' t actually bothered with any of it though, I just did it more for shits and giggles than anything else. I need to find a homebrew app that runs divx/xvid hopefully, thats the only thing I don' t like about psp having to convert everything to mp4 sucks.

I can' t help but feel shortchanged =/

Still, is replacing the battery hard? More importantly, does it void any sort of warranty?

I' ll be checking PSP slim bundles then. But I estimate a barebones console is going to cost me 150% of the original' s price at least...w/o the price-drop -_____-;;

Is that all PSP has to show for it? I see 3 or 4 titles i would like to play on the go. The rest are just early PS2 collection downgrades which would be much better played on a PS2 and a nice Panel.

Can see why DS has left this for dust. These are not true Handheld games atall.

To a gamer it' s old new i' m afraid. Nothing but cheap cash-in ports. Do i blames Developers though? I say not as they can' t do nothing exciting with the poor, limited design anyway.

Right because Mario 64, Pokemon and Zelda games with the same formula from the early 90' s are original. You fail, go kill yourself.

And you aren' t a real gamer, you are a casual, real gamers dont buy DS. It' s especially funny you mention limited design when there' s like 5 ds games that actually make good use out of the stylus and dual screens, lol.

But it' s ok, there' s got to be someone to satisfy the 12 year old kid market, children need simple games.

So? Buy a new one. With all the accessories made for PSP, it' s inevitable that they will make a cover for PSP slim when using the old battery.

I' d take the Gulity Gear over Tekken; more because I' m like sprite-based fighting games better.

Eitherwise, if/when I get a PSP, my game list would prolly look like this:

GTA (either of them, depending)
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Street Fighter if I get bored with Guilty Gear
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (because my old disc doesn' t work anymore...)

Any of the better JRPGs that have been released for it.

Also, wasn' t there a port of Disgaea? Or a prequel, or something for the PSP?

PS: I think Elder Scrolls Travels has been cancelled.

My friend Dave got a slim PSP a couple of days ago. You all know Dave, right? No? Oh OK. I haven' t played it yet, but I will tomorrow. He actually purchased Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins brand new sealed for $17 before he bought the system. He says that game is super easy, as if it were made for babies. I am thinking about not being his friend any more if he owns such an easy game. He also picked up the Salamander Deluxe Pack or whatever it is called. It has Xexex or something on it.

He had a hard time derterimining which PSP bundle to buy because they both sucked. One came with a Star Wars game and Darth Vader emblazoned on the unit. All Star Wars games suck and who the hell wants a " themed" PSP? What' s next, Halo 3 Xbox 360 controllers? The other bundle can with Jax and Dakter or Dax and Clank or some shit like that. He bought the one that came with Ratchet and Jax and it still sits unplayed in the cardboard sleeve it came in. The part about this bundle that is really crappy is that it came with a Family Guy UMD. Family Guy. On UMD. You lose TWICE! A shitty show on a shitty format. He says that also sits unused.

Daxter is the best platformer in years, family guy is good, and if you don' t like it it' s free so stfu, and of course it comes in UMD, what do you expect for them to include a bluray movie on a PSP bundle?

And your " friend" doesn' t exist because the star wars bundle isn' t even out yet for him to have to choose from, moron.

Next.

I don' t buy the " i don' t like PSP games because they' re no good for playing on the move" bullshit. GBA was essentially a SNES and the game' s were just portable versions of console games. It wasn' t until DS arrived that some people changed their minds and decided that what they wanted wasn' t to be able to play console-esque games anywhere, but instead games they could just play for 5 minutes at a time.

It' s called portable gaming for a reason. It' s like console gaming, but portable.

DS has a lot of games, but i prefer PSP' s lineup. There might be stuff on DS that can' t be done on another platform, different and unique experiences, ...but you can' t play Tekken on Metal Gear on DS, so DS loses.

In my opinion, the best games on PSP are:

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception
Grand Theft Auto: Lberty City Stories
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
WipeOut Pure
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
BurnOut Legends
BurnOut Domination
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Daxter
LocoRoco
Killzone: Liberation
Crush
Monster Hunter Freedom
Street Fighter Alphs 3 Max
SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo
The Warriors
Every Extended Extra
Twisted Metal: Head On
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Virtua Tennis World Tour
Metal Gear Acid 2
OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast
Ridge Racer 2

...and im looking forwards to:

Manhunt 2
Syphon Filter: Logans Shadow
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions
Monster Hunter Freedom 2
WipEout Pulse
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Silent Hill Origins
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology
Final Fantasy
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Stories

In my opinion, the best games on DS are:

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Sonic Rush
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Super Mario 64 DS
Wario Ware Touched!
