Sega, Konami, Capcom, and Namco... I could Easily live happily in a gaming world where they were the only companies pumping out games

It' s id Software VX, ...saying ID is saying ' eye dee' . Loads of people make that mistake. Anyway: Capcom, Sega, Nintendo and Konami... I think Microsoft Games Studios have the potential for great IP' s. Personally i Rare to re-make Killer Instinct for 360, but only after Banjoe Threeie!

SEGA Virtua Fighter Sonic Shinobi Streets Of Rage Golden Axe OutRun Sega Rally Daytona Ristar Nights Scud Race etc NINTENDO Mario Zelda Metroid F-Zero Donkey Kong SNK King Of Fighters Samurai Shodown Last Blade Fatal Fury Metal Slug CAPCOM Street Fighter Resident Evil Strider Final Fight Viewtiful Joe SEGA and SNK mean the most to me, though both Nintendo and Capcom come very close seconds. Unfortunitely I feel Capcom and SNK have lost much of their appeal. Capcom seemingly have forgotten how to make a good 2D fighting game, and SNK have got 90% new dev staff, meaning pretty much all their new stuff is rubbish. Still Resi 4 was awesome!

SNK don' t exist anymore, they went bankrupt and were aquired by Playmore. They are SNK Playmore now and they own all the IP' s. Still, it' s not the same company and many of the developers left to go elsewhere.

I know the old SNK don' t exist anymore, but only in the form of their development staff. The management is largely the same with the executive producer of the old KOF' s and the head of the old SNK in charge. Just look at the credits of the old games and the new. Essentially the mangement of the old SNK created Playmore and then bought back all of their old IP' s. Sadly they couldn' t afford to develop the games themselves until now (they got Eolith to do KOF, Mega Enterprise to do MS), and even then they have only made SVC, KOF03 onwards and NGBC. They are now known as SNKPlaymore (SNKP) Playmore are however in the process of bringing back some of the old SNK creative staff. KOF XI and NGBC sees some of the old music composers return, and KOF 03 saw some sprite artis come back. Slowly they are trying to rebuild the old SNK, but with a focus on good business in addition to quality development. KOF XI is much improved over 03 but is still largely inferior to 2000 and before.

It ranks up there as one of my favs too. Along with KOF98, 2000 and Last Blade it' s definitely one of SNK' s finest creations. According to a Playmore producer working on KOF Max Impact 2 a sequel to MOTW was 70% done at the original SNK. Sadly all work was abandoned in 2000 along with the bulk of the original SNK' s staff. I don' t want SNKP to touch it though, not unless they get back more of their old creative staff.

Does the Pokemon characters count as Nintendos? I' m not the biggest Pokemon-fan in the world but some of them are really cool.

hey kyo.k, they were actually planning on making a G:MOTW 2?? I luv that 2d fighter man, better than the KOF series. looks diff, plays a bit diff. It' s more fluid than KOF, I think KOF is a bit too stiff, as in the players are too stiff. anyway, SNK rocks, they have some pretty good shit. Have u guys played Goal Goal Goal?? it' s a soccer game from SNK, and it' s sooooo sick, lol, when u do power shots, depending on the player you have, the ball turns into a fish, or or ball of fire, does diff moves, lol, it' s so crazy. I' ll just name a few i like from SNK: Garou: Mark of the Wolves KOF 98 Pulsar The Last Blade 2 Samurai SHowdown 4 Metal Slug 1, 2 and X, after that they lost their touch Sengoku 3 Shock Troopers 2 Street Hoop (i think it' s called, anyway, that basketball game) Fatal Fury special edition namco 1942 (i think it' s called) BTW, 2d games ROCK!!! I wanna see what Sonic Riders is like. I like racing games, especially fun racing, kinda like that, or like star wars pod racing. PGR is too real life.

I haven' t played that Goal game but I might have to check it out now, sounds really mad. 2D games are awesome, shame most devs seem to have forgotten how to make decent ones. We' ve always got the old stuff though, and will always will great. I also like arcade racing games. Scud Race (Super GT) being perhaps my fave of all time along with the original Sega Rally. Not sure how Sonic Riders will turn out as all the vids I' ve seen (Kikizo, IGN) made the game look quite poor. It looks like it has quite a few flaws already. Anyway the game I was hoping Sega woudn' t fuck up on was Sega Rally 2006, and guess what? They did. I can' t believe that the game looks worse than the 6 7 year old Model 3 Rally 2.
