Ultra HD Screens by 2011 (4320p) - May 28, 2008 00:16
LINK

Ultra HD, the new generation high definition video and audio, which has been several years in development is likely around 2011, and quite possibly even earlier, go into production.

Bovenstaande wist senior marketing directeur Dann Tack van Philips te melden. Above knew Dann Tack senior marketing director of Philips to report. Tevens vertelde hij enthousiast dat deze resolutie ondersteunt zal worden door ge- upscalede Blu-Ray discs en misschien in Japan zelfs al volgend jaar gaat verschijnen. It also said that he enthusiastically supports this resolution will be made by upscalede Blu-Ray discs in Japan and maybe even next year. Leuk hieraan is dat niet al te lang geleden nog verwacht werd dat Ultra HD pas over 15 of 20 jaar in productie zou gaan Fun to it that not too long ago it was expected that Ultra HD only about 15 or 20 years would go into production

Deze nieuwe vorm van High Definition Television zal een resolutie hebben van 7680 × 4320 pixels en is hiermee vier keer breden en vier keer hoger dan de huidige HDTV-standaard. This new form of High Definition Television will have a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels and four times it is wide and four times higher than the current HDTV standard.

So that will be in place just in time for the Xbox 720 and the PS4 then? So shorter life span than expected then?

I wouldn' t worry about it. HDTVs have been around for years, and only now are we breaking the 50% attach rate. It' s going to be aaaages before they become common, if the idea takes off at all.

There isn' t a point to that in the consumer market.

The only reason we needed HDTVs is because the common man can now afford " maximum" size home screen which range between 60-100 inch screens, and standard definition looks like crap on big screens.

" Ultra HD" would never make it in the consumer market, you' d need a screen bigger than your house to take advantage of it, even if 400" screens somehow become affordable for the common household, there is no room in the common household for them.

You wouldn' t need a bigger screen to take advantage of it.

For my vision I could use a higher DPI than what 1080p gives me at 46" . Also if you were watching something in a much higher resolution you could zoom into areas for more detail.

I' m sure you want to see more " detail" in your (gay?)porn, but for the rest of us such features are unnecessary.

Most projectors used for digital cinema in real movie theaters are only 2K (80 more pixels across than 1080p). Some theaters use 4K projectors but still only project 2K resolution since there aren' t many movies mastered in that high of a resolution. Some theaters still use film which has a higher overall resolution than both.

Movie theaters are gonna be PISSED when they have to upgrade their projectors, which they won' t.

Not only that, but content providers for said HDTV' s are only just getting around to having HD feeds.
