I never saw bosses in the MGS-series as normal actually. Even in the first MGS they weren' t usual people.

Notice that Screaming Mantis, [the one with lots of little arms] has two dolls, a pysho mantis and the sorrow. Thats creepy but I love they way they are tieing it all together and not another sequal in its own world that many games suffer from
