EA extends offer for T2 - May 20, 2008 03:07
Electronic Arts has extended the offer for TakeTwo since the deadline ran out today.

They really wan' t TakeTwo. Do you guys think it would be a good choice for TakeTwo to accept the offer? I think it depends on the amount creative freedom they would be given by EA. Because I don' t wan' t to see a GTA been held back so they could fit it on the Wii for example.

Zoy also made an important point. Is it good for the industry?

I think at this point it probably is a good move, at least for Take2' s shareholders. They have raked in hefty ducats from GTAIV. But they have a history of shoddy management and nothing else in their portfolio has anywhere near that kind of strength.

The more important question is, is it good for the industry? I think it isn' t. It isn' t really good for any industry to have too much concentrated in the hands of too few. Wealth has to do with circulation, not just accumulation. And creative advancement thrives with competition.

The answer is simple , NO .
Somebody file some monopoly lawsuit or some shit against EA please .
Seriously though this deal will go through , if not now a little later . Nobody can stop EA.

Why ? I don' t think they will mess with a franchise like GTA too much . They will probably try some their regular ea-bullshit like unnecessary DLC and stuff but the core franchise should remain the same . My only concern is if developers leave after the take over , i will not be comfortable with gta being in hands of some new devs .

Sports games will be affected the most . With no competition we are sure to have lame editions every year with some graphical improvements ..

I' d say Activision has a fair chance of staying in the game too.

I dont think it will be a good deal because as Zoy said we need to have competition in the industry. If EA and Activision buy all the smaller companies then we will have less and less competition which will result in lesser quality games.
