EA buying Take Two ??? - Feb 25, 2008 12:32
WTF is going on here .. EA is on a rampage of sorts buying up companies . At this rate we are going to have 2 maybe 3 major publishers . Take Two rejected the offer but its scary that EA is offering to buy all these companies ...

this consolidation has happened in other parts of the entertainment industry; but I' m sure of certain companies became too big they would attract the attention of industry regulators over anti-competitiveness.

Not so sure about that. Few are crying foul about Microsoft' s stranglehold of the OS market, certainly no one with the power to change all that.

The EU has constantly been on MS' back about their control over the OS market, plenty of large fines have been sent their way.

Id not mind this aquisition too much. The one good thing that would come of it, is that Firaxis would be in EA hands, which would grant them access to the Alpha Centuri license, id love to play a sequel to that game.

I dont want this to happen. If EA buys Take2 the 2k Sports games will be gone and I would have to play the inferior EA Sports games.

I dont think so . The 2K Sports brand would probably be dissolved but i guess we would then have the 2K team working on the LIVE games and i dont mind that .My problem with this deal is I feel this would put a single company incharge of too many good franchises .

The problem is none of the console manufacturers will try to counter this deal as they would obviously not want their realtions with EA to get strained . I guess this is going to happen eventually .

Imagine if EA succeeded in this, and then announced... the EA console.
