Because Duke Nukem 3D owned all face. For its time it had the best graphics, tons of new gameplay elements, and was really funny. And there hasn' t been a true sequal yet.

Because he shit down an aliens throat.

Duke Nukem 3D was amazing... at the time. It' s only real competition was the original Quake and because Nukem used sprites it looked smoother. Heh, i was 13 year old when it was released and i remember chuckling at how you could give prostitutes and strippers money to shake their tits in your face.

Duke also had some of the best one-liners ever...

There were funny references to Doom and Quake...

There was a corpse of a space marine that looked like the main character from Doom and as you enter Duke says " That' s one Doomed space marine" ...

And there was a part where a building (with a sticker warning of a fault line) collapses due to an earthquake and Duke says " I ain' t afraid of no Quake"

There were also references to The Simpsons, Indiana Jones, Terminator, Luke Skywalker, Snake Plissken, Dirty Harry, Die Hard, Mission Impossible, Beavis & Butthead etc... and in 1996 it just kicked ass.

It also had the best weapon loadout ever. The game was a work of genius and the hope is that 3D Realms haven' t lost their touch. The sequel has changed engines multiple times and staff have left... it could turn out awful.

I' m not sure what engine it' s running on now... Doom 3 or Unreal Engine 3.0 are probably the most likely candidates. Hopefully todays trailers will be realtime and not CG and we' ll be able to get an idea of what to expect.

They' ve released this screenshot...

...which if rendered using the game engine actually looks very poor. I' d probably guess Doom 3. But the really small images they released earlier in the year had a distinct UE3.0 look to them... so who knows...

First off, I really want this game to be sweet. It was one of the first games I ever played and it is still fun to play now.

Nitro you might want to put 12/19/07 because that is the standard format(here anyway).

No. It' s fine as it is.

Just because you ***ers insist on screwing with stuff like that, injecting your own daft Americanism into things - you shouldn' t expect the rest of the world to even consider conforming.

EDIT: In fact, just to be a dick i' ve changed the time too.

And weren' t you like 6 or something when the game was released?

Yes I was young and didn' t play it when it was released(nor did I say I played it when it released), but I played pc games from quite young and my father loved Duke Nukem and I played this after playing Dark Forces(I' m not sure if I ever finished the game).

You know you love the Americans.

I could really mostly care less, but have your fun with your British ways.

UPDATE: Here is an update that George Broussard made online this evening:

Guys just to manage expectations...

This is a teaser. It' s not a full blown trailer like the 2001 trailer (but something like that is coming). I tried to be clear about that in the message board post, so just bear in mind that it' s a teaser :)

Enjoy.

Ha! That' s rich coming from the country that carried over a system of measurement based on " feet" . I can just see some retarded fool putting his foot all over the wall and then scribbling on a notepad, and some inbred king muttering " brilliant!" We Americans should have gone metric a long time ago!

Actually for my file naming conventions I found that the most efficient way for me to date them is year-month-day, so a file I made today would be called something like " 071219_example" ... going from most general to most specific.

Hmm, thinking about the original (2D) Duke Nukem from ' 91, and the seemingly impending changeover from another Bush to another Clinton, it seems like we are stuck in a time loop here and about to relive ' 92. Watch out for any young Thatchers with ambitions for high office over there!

How does putting the month in front of the day make sense!??

Thats the standard that all branches of the American military use. For example, today would be 20071219.
