Can anyone help with fixing my DVD Drive???[RESOLVED] - Aug 01, 2007 06:09
Okay so I mentioned this problem long ago about how I get this error message from my DVD Drive:
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

First I went thru the whole troubleshooting stuff that it said to. That didn' t work. Then I went to every updated every single thing I could think of (Nvidia, EVGA, Windows Update etc) still nothing. I then went out and bought a new drive just to see the same exact error message.

Incidentally this did occur at the same time I installed a new video card. The EVGA Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS. And a new power supply. The computer recognizes the hardware is there, it opens and closes and the little light flashes. But no matter what I just can' t get rid of the error message.

One last thing I can think of doing is removing the video card and dropping back to its original out of the box settings and going on from there.

I tried searching up the error but couldn' t get anything.

I really really hope someone can figure out what the *** is going on here.

Is it a new DVD drive?
If so, have you installed the drivers?

Has it ever worked?
If so, when did it die? Try a system restore to a point when it worked.

Does it work if you install it on another computer?
If not your drive is fucked and you' ll need to buy a new one.

If nothign esle worked but your drive does work on another computer, you might want to save all your valuable files on another HDD and reformat your HDD and reinstall Windows.

Most likely you' ll end up buying another DVD drive. They' re not that expensive.
