Altair was the biggest douchebag in 2007.

Edit: Altair was kind of a douchebag, but there was quite a bit of character development for him, which was way more interesting than the game' s storyline.

Altair had his finger cut off so he could use the badass blade attached to his wrist. You can' t get much cooler than that...

Well altair is hiding his own tracks " for the better good" I mean to cover up his real mission.

And Altair is just like other people in his position, they do what they' re told, being a member and all, y' know? Altair' s difference is that he questions the motives.

Ofc,but his own organistation and leader doesnt like that atleast not from the start and we all know what happend in the end,when their leader can do what " he wants" .

I thought Altair was an emo and wannabecool, felt perfect for the 14 year old children of today, but didn' t really suit me at all.

Favorite new male character of this year has to be Big Daddy

and favorite female I gues the computer from Portal, perhaps.

Hasn' t been a great year for characters. Thats something mainstream games really need to work on these days.

Best ones are either from Bioshock or Orange Box though. Alyx still gets on my nerves however, but I suppose its better than being indifferent about her. I liked the self-defeated turrets in Portal.

I don' t understand the frequent use of the term " emo" .
As soon as something is remotely cool or mysterious it suddenly becomes " emo" .
Exaggerated emo-ism can of course feel pretty cheap and childish but sometimes you need some of that too. But in any case, I don' t think Altair is very emo. People nowadays seem to have some need to get rid of any kind of emo-ism as possible. Now THAT' S childish.

And I didn' t think Altair was wannabecool, I think it was a pretty " natural" coolness he had.
His personality and appearance was motivated by his profession and history. I don' t know what kind of character you were expecting, some kind of Sam Fisher or Rambo... in medieval Jerusalem? Now THAT would' ve been retarded. It wouldn' t fit the story or the setting at all.

Had he been an alone assassins then yes, he would' ve been very naive.
But since he was part of a brotherhood and just followed orders it works fine to me. Call him indoctrinated, whatever you want. The nazi soldiers killed jews in sick ways just because they were ordered to do so.

I wasn' t expecting anything, and I' m not obsessed over " emo-ism" , however I really thought that everything about Altair seemed to have been design to fit the current trend of " coolness" and i also believe that mysterious characters can be cool and stuff, however I did not think Altair was cool in any way. It' s a matter of personal preference, and Altair... not only because of the character self, but also because of the influence of the whole story of AC, made me think wow, this would have been cool, if only I was 7 years younger.

Note: I am NOT trying to anger anyone who likes Altair, I' m only saying I did not find him cool at all, while giving as little reasoning as possible as to why, becausew I' m lazy.

The portal chick is the only worthy mention.
