Alone in the Dark IGN Preview - Jan 23, 2008 15:24
Here!

Personally, from what I' ve read, this is shaping to be one hell of a title. Suffice to say, Alone in the Dark is getting one major overhaul, a la Resident Evil. Now, if Silent Hill 5 also redefines itself, then we' ll have some really good survival horror games this gen as well.

Emphasizing more action survival than survival horror, Carnby' s newest adventure throws him into a supernaturally twisted Central Park and New York City.

Hm, one more going towards more action than horror. It seems as if the more " classic" survival horror is disappearing a bit. I' m curious how the game will turn out though.

I don' t mind more action, but judging by the screenshots, it doesn' t seem like they are sacrificing much of the atmosphere either. I am particularly interested in the whole enemies with " senses" thing. Knowing that your enemy can stalk you can open up for some creepy scenarios.

Nothing is as bad as that movie. I own it and I' ve never finished watching it. Last time I tried to watch it, I stopped and went to clean my bathroom. I would actually rather scrub my toilet than watch that shit. Only Street Fighter the movie was a greater travesty.

At least the atmosphere in the DC game was pretty creepy. Sound design was also nice.

Yeah, 4 wasn' t nearly as bad as the movie, and I' ve only seen the previews and trailers. Like nekkid said, it was very atmospheric, and it seems they are not compromising that with the new action, unlike RE4.

I have played the original and fourth only, I never managed to play 2 and 3. One I beat a long time ago, 4 I quit about half-way though with Carmby and wasn' t even into 20 minutes with the girl when I stopped.

I have never played any of the previous Alone in the Dark games, but this one seems to be shaping up rather nicely if I do say so myself.

I could do with some more Survival-Horrors.

The cool thing about the second atleast (which i remeber the most) is that it had really cool puzzles

The fourth game (the only one I played) wasn' t that bad I thought. Well, when it came to the atmosphere at least. That part seemed kind of well done.

It was pretty creepy. The game was just too punishing and frustrating due to the enemy placement and infinite respawns though.

I doubt this will get released before Atari closes up for good.

Well, the game is being published by Atari, but it' s being developed by another team, so even if Atari closes, then hopefully they can get another publisher.
